Miguel Cotto Welcomes a Margarito Rematch Next June

Former two-division champion Miguel Cotto is looking forward to a potential rematch with Antonio Margarito. Bob Arum of Top Rank, who promotes both fighters, recently told Primera Hora that he plans to put together a televised doubleheader featuring Margarito and Cotto in early 2009. Arum says the fights will take place on the same day, but in different cities. Margarito would headline an event in Los Angeles and Cotto would be in the top spot of a card in Puerto Rico. If both fighters win, Arum would like to make a rematch in June, with the fight landing in New York, Las Vegas or Los Angeles. [details]

Cotto can win this one. People are hyping Margarito to be some unbeatable god now after the first fight. He is beatable, it will be tough, but Cotto can do it.

IF Cotto wants to be prepare for Margo he should fight Clottey in January instead of a tune-up fight and keep the level of competition up!

Yeah, definitely beatable. Cotto needs to fight smarter now & stay off those ropes & condition himself to box all 12. He can't fight Margarito & win, but he can outbox him if he keeps the fight focused in the middle of the ring.

Margarito is beatable but Cotto does not have the tools to do the job. He has no ****en chin and can't take a true welters punch. He got rocked in the second round by a Margarito body shot.

Not that it mattered! He didn't have to, it was'nt like Marg landed a lucky
shot to end it. I honestly thing a rematch would have the same outcome.

Marg is just too damn big. Whether its fair or not it is what it is.

What is Cotto gonna do different this time? Condition better? Hindsight, I think this might be one of his weaknesses. He's seemed winded in most if not all of his fights. Especially true as he's gone up in weight.

Fight in the middle of the ring? Marg size sez differently. He gets bulllied to the ropes again. Marg IMO was pretty effective at pressuring the fight and cutting off the ring.

Develop an iron chin? Tell me how.

Go to the body earlier? Cotto himself said he could not get his shots in.

IMO Cotto has to fight a Mayeatheresque fight. Hit, clinch and wait for the ref to break it up. Frustrate Marg this way.

He might try low blowing! Just kidding, but who knows maybe he will have to resort to that this time.

He does have the tools, but he made some bad choices in the ring.

The only way to beat Margarito is by decision. You won't hurt him or knock him out. Fighters either need to be very busy with him or pot shot him and get on their bike.
