Hugo Garay-Jurgen Brahmer Pushed To Nov. 22

Finally he will get his world title shot. Universum fighter Jürgen Brähmer, Germany's light heavyweight contender for the world title, will challenge Argentinian WBA champion Hugo Hernan Garay. The fight was scheduled for October 18 at the Freiberger Arena in Dresden but has been postponed due to an injury by Garay. He suffered the sprain of his left ankle on a training run and has to recover for three weeks before he can get back to training. [details]

Nice Universum press release. **** like "Jurgen Brahmer has had to wait patiently for his world title shot" is hilarious. "His title shot?" Is it a birthright for all Universum fighters or something? Maybe if Brahmer actually fought a lt. heavyweight worth a **** to EARN a title shot, or if he'd stayed out of trouble, he wouldn't have had to wait. The only reason he's getting this hometown set-up title is because his promoters got the slimy WBA to rank him #1 despite never having beaten a legitimate light heavyweight. We all know the outcome: German split decision for Brahmer. Greatest thing since Markus Beyer and Ottke I'm sure. And the beat goes on.

No, neither are well known. Garay is a decent light heavy who twice "lost" questionable decisions to WBO champ Erdei in Europe before winning the WBA title in July. Universum has been shilling Brahmer for years as a super middleweight, but when it figured he couldn't beat any of the champions at that weight, they got him installed as a mandatory for Garay.
