I asked the same question about a week ago as I'd read that The Roach had said just that- that if deLaHoya weighed more than the stipulated 147 on fight day, the fight was off.................. BUT..........The Roach has been sticking his nose in here and there and everywhere, and mouthing off all sorts of things. Probably likes to see his name in print. And, being Manny's trainer, with Manny listening to every "golden" word dropping from his ruby lips, I'm sure that he has a feeling of power that a trainer normally wouldn't have, and regards himself as a sort of diplomatic rep, much more than a hired trainer on a percentage, large though it is.
Very likely Oscar will need to make 147 on the day before, or 30 hours before or whatever the local regulation is.
As for Arum saying that Oscar will make i47 easily, this is exactly what I said the other day, several times. Oscar was 150 a couple of months ago, against Forbes, recent photos show him very lean, and he wouldn't agree to 147 if he felt any doubts about making it.
$3 mill per lb would be the same to Oscar as $3 mill per ton....his life's blood.....money.....Oscar would never take the chance of losing any, although, for PR purposes, he may suggest that he's having weight troubles, and then arrive past the post in top shape.
Win, lose, or draw, Oscar's money will be safe.
