He was tucked behind hundreds of Cebuanos (1,400 plus according to Pigafetta) who threw spears and stones at the Spaniards who are stuck in waist deep water. Magellan was killed by a spear that stuck him in the face then the mob jumped in for the kill. Lapu-lapu didn't even lay a hand on him yet we are made to believe that Lapu-lapu killed Magellan by his own hands. Hyping is invented by Cebuanos to make people think they are good fighters...Lapu-Lapu is a prime example.

Badboy, although you claim to hate/critic ALA and his cohorts ONLY, it shows differently from the way you post. You even went to discredit everything Cebuano including the story of Lapu-Lapu. Just wanna let you know that Lapu-Lapu most probably did not personally kill magellan, BUT it's a fact that warriors from Cebu did. Cebuanos, it's heroes and history has nothing to do with ALA. Including them in your argument is unfair.

Also defending the Cebuanos DOESN'T mean that they are also Cebuanos. Maybe you've forgotten about nationalism and that Cebuanos are Pinoys too. Any bad things being said about Ilocanos, Pampangenos, Warays, Illonggos and Cebuanos......a pinoy who loves his poeple WILL ALWAYS react even if he's not from the same province. I am and some other pinoys here are like that, obligated to defend pinoys no matter what area they came from. If Jaro gym and Elorde gym wants to become popular, it needs fans from manila or some other parts of the island to support it. It's sad that the manilenos group in Pacland doesn't even have contacts with Northern fighters or Northern gyms, the way Southerners have contacts with Southern fighters and thier gyms.

Anyway, George Washington and MacArthur aren't credited with killing a specific person by their own hands, are they? They were heroes not because they killed a great man. Lapu-lapu being a hero solely rest on mythical claims (by Cebuanos of course) that he killed Magellan.

Are there any textbooks or internet articles saying Washington and McArthur did actual hand to hand battle? Here are just some links on the net saying that Lapu-lapu did. Textbooks in the Philippines also teach kids that Lapu-lapu himself killed Magellan which is far from the truth.
