Ithought the Ref suppose to protect the fighters...

we all know khan got destroyed...so why didn,t the ref stop it after the first knockdown...well that shows how they didn,t care about the official in the ring meaning khan corner because if they knew that there fighter was going in the ring with a powerpuncher they would have picked a seasoned ref...tell me if i,m wrong or not because if that was a veteran ref he would have stopped the fight after khan went down in a terrible way and especially how he got up and was staggering around so bad...that ref probably earned a 100.00 or better yet 99.00 for that poor officating...

Terry O'Connor is a veteran referee, he gave Khan as much benefit of the doubt as he could.

I'm sure some people would've complained if the fight had been stopped after the first knockdown.

There were after all people complaining about the Haye - Maccarinelli stoppage...

It's better to have a decisive finish like that.

khan was out on his feet, he looked like he had drunk about 15 pints, he didnt need to get knocked down again. His corner could see how hurt he was, so could the ref. i agree with kedashy, no one gave a **** about khan

come on, you trying to tell me that you wouldn,t stop that fight after the first knockdown...that,s how boxers get killed in the ring when a official lets the guy fight when you know dam well he can,t defend themselves...

Khan said to the referee he could continue and put his hands up. Many fighters have come back from worse, it's not like Khan was being beat around the ring round after round, the fight had only went about 30 seconds.

Well Khan did have a reputation of coming back when hurt like he did against Limond and Gomez, Khan also answered the referee's question when he was asked.

I agree 100%. If I were the referee I would have stopped it as soon as I saw him wobbling up to the corner after the first knockout. If were the trainer I would have throw the towel...it really doesn't take a genius to realize when a fighter is as ****ed up as Khan looked after that knockdown...

I agree a decisive victory is best. You have to see whether it was nervous legs or not. Give the fighter a chance to recover. That is just being honest. If you stopped fights after the one knock down all the time there wouldn't be the all time great fights. Castillo-Corrales is a great example.
