    Agreed

He is a massive underperformer and his mouth is why he is either disliked or has no mass appeal. He feels he is the best only because of his wins over Roy Jones which he needs to quit trying to peddle and go fight, afterall the clock is ticking on his career. I think the article got it wrong....he is DWELLING on his plight as they put it....

According to Tarver, the only reason why he's fighting Dawson is because he couldn't get a fight with Calzaghe. I would of preferred a Calzaghe-Tarver match as well, that way Dawson would of fought Diaconu instead. The winner of the Dawson-Tarver match should fight Calzaghe next to determine who's the best LHW.

Eric Harding, Reggie Johnson, Glen Johnson, Montell Griffin, Clinton Woods, two wins over Roy Jones

        thats an impressive resume,

so what if he had an off night against Hopkins, everyone is entitled to a bad performance,

Tarver is massively underrated, his career is more than just beating Roy Jones,

lets see if people start to give him any credit if he beats Dawson

            Ok....

He didnt have an off night against Hopkins, he was typical Tarver. Timing is everything and when he defeated Reggie Johnson, Griffin and Harding you have to take into account where they were in their careers when the fights took place. As for Glen, remember Glen got him first, deflating him after his greatest accomplishment - beating Roy - also during his 15 mins of fame where he went everywhere talking trash, tooting his own horn, etc. Again, not a great fight, an average fighter who talks more than he fights.

I thought Tarver won both Johnson fights and apparently the judge that scored it 116-112 for him did too.

He has a good resume against light heavy opposition and he's never been knocked out.
He avenged his losses to Harding, Jones, and Johnson as well.

He toots his own horn creatively, because as he says, he's the Rodney Dangerfield of boxing. And judges don't give him no respect.

i agree, i had him winning the first Johnson fight too, as im sure most did,

its sad people dont give him his credit, only guy he has lost to and not avenged the defeat against is Hopkins,

people put too much into his talking and public attitude, its just an act

I think its a decent resume at this point that could escalate with an impressive win over Dawson, but if we 'so what' on bad nights, then we would be here quite a while defending many fighters that had a bad night. I dont think he had a bad night, I think he was himself - over confident, under prepared and didnt deliver but ultimately he fought a better fighter that night, Hopkins. I must admit Hopkins has declined quickly after that fight though...

I agree, good resume but if Dawson wins impressively Tarver is one step closer to his career ending quickly. I never saw Rodney as upset/mad as Tarver!
