Every year, people say "this is the year of the upset".
2001 was the Year of the Upset.
Big upsets in big fights.
Rahman-Lewis 1: Rahman was a 20-1 underdog, and the significance can't really get bigger than the Heavyweight Championship of the World.
Ruiz-Holyfield 2: Ruiz was a 2-1 underdog for the WBA Heavyweight belt.
Barrera-Hamed: Barrera was a 3-1 underdog to be the uncrowned king at featherweight.
Tszyu-Judah: Tszyu was a 3-1 underdog. For the undisputed junior welterweight title.
Hopkins-Trinidad: Hopkins was a 3-1 underdog, and 15 out of 20 insiders polled in The Ring picked Tito to win. This was the biggest fight of the year, PPV wise, and for the undisputed middleweight title.Comment
