Tommy doesn't lose this fight unless he has no legs like he claimed against Hagler, but even then I'd be skeptical Marg could win. TKO affair here, this fight ends in the middle rounds. I'll give Tony's chin credit in that maybe he doesn't go down from a single punch and that keeps him up till the 7th untill the rights become too much to bare. Tommy has all the attributes over Cotto and everything Margarito brings except chin. Tommy could box and brawl, was elite at both.

This analysis means nothing though, because Hearns could break his right on Tony's dome head like he did against Marvin, and that would throw most of the positive attributes out of the window. I say this fight is 70/30 in favor of Tommy.

Cotto has good power, but it is overrated to me. After Baldomir and Floyd, stopping Zab was not an impressive feat in my view, the m.o. on Judah was pressure by then, and Cotto still had to ballshot him to get to that result.. and he couldn't budge old Mosely despite beating him to the punch in much of that fight. So when people kept saying the shots Cotto was hitting Marg with would have dropped any other welter on their night, I was surprised no one mentioned the kitchen sink that got thrown at Shane and how he went nowhere either when faced with that power.

Don't think that would've made a difference. Marvin wasn't human. That dome shot should've hurt despite it not being on the chin and he completely ate that punch and kept after Tommy as if he weren't hit.

And that was Hearns at middleweight. Hearns could've fought with a bat, and he still would've lost that night. Picture Margs fighting Duran, Leonard, Hagler and Barkley. Margs couldn't even beat Santos. Sorry Haglerwins lol, I got over zealous lol...

Marg would suck those punches in with that macho pressure style of his and get battered. Cotto was only welting those eyes and his power is already a solid B or so. Tommy getting tired or breaking his hand are outside chances... and with Marg's body punching I'd still start the bout at 70/30 in favor of Hearns.

People forget that Tommy was a beast and a great WW. He had too much speed for Margs.
