    Q&A Alejandro Valdez

Anson Wainwright - Firstly congratulations on your win in June against Anyetei Laryea 17-4 were you happy with your performance?

Alejandro Valdez - Thank you. I thought it was an improvement from my fight before that. I was happy but not satisfied with my performance. I know I can be better and will continue to work hard.

Anson Wainwright - You will get you title opportunity when you face WBC Champion Hozumi Hasegawa on 16 October. What can you tell us abpout this fight? Wat do you think of Hasegawa?

Alejandro Valdez - I’m very excited to get my first chance at a world title. I think it’s going to be a tough fight but a good one. Haegawa is a very talented fighter and is worthy champion. I know I will have my hands full when I face him, but I feel I can beat him. I want to win it for my family and for my country.

Anson Wainwright - When and where do go into camp for the Hasegawa fight?

Alejandro Valdez - I have already started my training in Los Mochis, Mexico with Fernando Montiel. The father of current champ Fernando Montiel. So far it’s been a really good training camp and there is good chemistry amongst us.

Anson Wainwright - You have built up an impressive resume since turning pro in 2004, beating former world champions Mauricio Pastrana PTS12 & Adonis Rivas PTS10 along with top contenders Cecilio Santos PTS12 & Heriberto Ruiz KO6. Where these fights learn curves for you that allowed you to get better as a fighter?

Alejandro Valdez - Absolutely those fights were really good learning experiences for me. Each fighter had a good amount of experience and I learned a little something from each fight.
Anson Wainwright - Who is your toughest opponent to date?

Alejandro Valdez - I would have to say Mauricio Pastrana because he was experience, durable, and short. It was a little difficult for me to work the body in that fight due to him being so short. But it was a good learning experience for me. I got through it.

Anson Wainwright - What do you think of the current world champions at Bantamweight WBC Hozumi Hasegawa, WBA Anselmo Moreno, IBF Joseph Agbeko & WBO Gerry Penalosa?

Alejandro Valdez - I think they are all good champions. But I think Haegawa is the best out of all of them. Gerry Penalosa is really good as well. The bantamweight division is full of talent.

Anson Wainwright - How did you get into Boxing?

Alejandro Valdez - Boxing has always been a big deal in my family. My father and grandfather have always been into it. And I really got into it as a kid. My father was very encouraging when I wanted to go to the gym and learn how to box.

Anson Wainwright - Who are your boxing hero’s?

Alejandro Valdez - I would have to say Julio Ceasar Chavez. He was fun to watch and always fought with pride. A true warrior. But I also admire my stablemate Israel Vazquez. I was with him during his training camp with Marquez. And it was really inspiring to see how hard he works and how hard he fought during that fight.

Anson Wainwright - What can you tell us about yourself that we may not already know?

Alejandro Valdez - I’m a very passionate guy and really determine to succeed in boxing. I’m not only into this just to make a living. Boxing is my life and I want to be the best.

Anson Wainwright - What do you like to do away from Boxing?

Alejandro Valdez - I’m a pretty simple guy and when I’m away from boxing I like to hang out with my family and my children.

Anson Wainwright - Do you have a message for anyone out there?

Alejandro Valdez - I don’t like to do much talking outside the ring. I will do all my talking inside the ring. But I will like to take this chance and thank all the fans out there. I hope they will continue to follow my career. And look out for me on October 16th.
