    De La Hoya-Pacquiao Update!

    De La Hoya-Pacquiao Update!

    Friday, September 5 2008

    By Peter Lim

Oscar De La Hoya confirmed Thursday that Floyd Mayweather Sr. will be back in his corner for his December 6 showdown against Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather will also be training Ricky Hatton for his November 22 clash with Paul Malignaggi.
The Golden Boy also commented on making the contract weight of 147 lbs. against Pacquiao, a number he hasn't seen since facing Arturo Gatti in 2001. "I've fought at 154, I've fought at 160, but that's not my natural weight," said De La Hoya. "My natural weight is welterweight at 144 or 140. I can make that weight easily. I know Manny Pacquiao says that if I don't make the weight, there'll be a $3 million fine for every pound. I can sleep good at night that that's not going to happen."

I agree, I think DLH easily makes 147.

If DLH can make 147 easily, PAC should have insisted on a catchweight of 145 instead of the overage on the 30%
