what would you tell a top fighter in regards to things they do inside or outside of the ring that they could improve on

id tell Hatton to develop a jab and throw more straight shots

id tell Cotto not to back up against fighters like Margarito

id tell Calzaghe to turn his hooks over properly when he punches

id tell Haye to stop loading up with every counter he throws

id tell Margarito to move his head a bit more

what would you say to a top fighter

I believe Cotto would have been knocked out sooner if he didn't retreat but of course that just my opinion. As for the topic, i would tell Chad Dawson to keep use of his jab and not to **** with inside fighters because his advantages are nullified when he does that. Stick to your game plan and box.

i personally dont see how Margarito knocks him out early when he is going backwards Margarito cant box on the backfoot and he certainly cant KO his man there

He wouldn't knock him out early, it would have been around the mid rounds. Margarito wouldn't be the one backing up. If Cotto brought the fight to him early, then he would have put himself at risk and his boxing skills wouldn't been a factor because he would be fighting Margarito's fight. Tony had the better chin and is the better inside fighter clearly. Cotto's advantages were superior boxing skills and hand speed so if he went to ****ing with Margarito, then he would have been out of there sooner. He doesn't have the chin to outlast Margarito. If Cotto had a bit more stamina, then he could have pulled it off because he was fighting an excellent fight.

Margartio would go back because he would go back by the the sheer amount of punches coming his way that he is not skilled enough to deal with you dont have to hurt him just keep him playing D and give him something to think about he would go back in a straight line and then once you have finished throwing he would look to come back at you but by that time you have claimed the centre of the ring

I understand what you mean, however Margarito is going to keep coming forward anyway so eventually Cotto would have to get hit with a lot of punches and would be force to fight on the inside, and he does not have the chin to take it like that.

Margarito kind of reminds of Pavlik in a way. He goes back only when his opponent is coming at him throwing punches and that's only for one moment, then he resets and keeps upping the pressure. He is trained to pressure you for every minute of every round, i personally can't picture him being consistently backed up against someone he is suppose to be pressuring.

i can see both sides of it TBH

i just dont think Cotto would of get beaten any worse than he did from backing up even if he still got KTFO he still would'nt have sustained the kind punshment he did when backing up the body attacks etc

and he possibly would have had a better chance of getting more of his own body punches off

                    ........

I'd tell Ricky Hatton to RETIRE or go into politics....
I'd tell Cotto to stop that pretty stuff he been doing lately, and get back to being the BOSS in there! Next time work Margarito's body more, lets find out if he can take it.....
I'd tell Clottey to give me more head and upperbody movement....
I'd tell Zab to go to 140 where he'd be way more sucessful
                    I'd tell B-Hop that 4 punches a round won't win a cat fight, let alone a MAN'S fight......step it up or hang'em up!
