Especially if you aren't killing yourself to do so. Say what you want about Bernard (and Williams for that matter, but Williams is killing himself), but he took almost 2 years off after his first fight to better learn how to box and then make weight at Middle.

He has always had great discpline (training) and was always in constant shape. If Bernard was killing himself to make weight and picking on smaller men, then how come he was able to make Middleweight for over 15 years? He always made it pretty easy except the fight with De la Hoya.

With Paul Williams I say it's fine that he can make Welterweight if he can. Same with Margarito. Same with Sergio Mora. Same with Calzaghe. Same with everyone.

I dunno man whenever I see Williams at a weigh in I just think 'You are taking the piss' he has to be clinically underweight by some distance..

That said, he is playing with fire. If he can do it then all is fair.

Oh yeah there's no doubt that Williams is killing himself to do it, but with Quintana (rematch) he managed it properly if he only jumped up to 156 insted of 166 like he normally does.

I never understood the other side of this debate, IMO its restricted to total halfwits. You make the weight, you make the weight. End of ****ing story.

He is a physical freak to even attempt it.

That said Welterweight seems full of huge guys. Clottey, Margarito even Collazo. It's when you had guys like Hatton and Sharmba Mitchell and Zab moving up that you realise these guys have no chance against these monsters. Floyd could because he is the greatest boxer on earth put simply.

I guess he debate lies in whether these guys should have so much time to rehydrate before a fight. If they didn't they could possibly compete at the weight.
