3 things holding Calzaghe legacy together
Number One
Mikkel Kessler
We all know Mikkel Kessler was that prime undefeated unproven fighter for Denmark who’s best win was over Mundine. Calzaghe legacy is depended on how well Kessler does from now on. Calzaghe fans claim that Kessler was Calzaghes best win hoping that he turns out to be this awesome fighter that will one day clean out the LHW division. But the other half of boxing fans think Hopkins was Calzaghe best win. There might be an American – British rivalry or more European – American Rivalry. See this threadhttp://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202340&highlight=Calzaghe+deny
Calzaghe himself prides himself on beating Kessler saying that he better than Pavlik so that he doesn’t face him. If Kessler doesn’t do anything good he will undermine Joe Calzaghe record and his legacy of fighting nameless names and some decent fighters Eubank and Hopkins. Simply Calzaghe and his fans pray that Kessler becomes someone and will hype him up and forget that fact he is a limited boxing who got out boxed completely by Calzaghe. If Kessler doesn’t beat any good fighter in his name for the rest of his career will Calzaghe fans still say he was the best win he had because before that he didn’t beat any great fighter.
Number 2
The Magic Zero
Calzaghe fans ask the question is Calzaghe beatable, in there eyes a Prime Hopkins RJJ and Toney or Pavlik who is in his prime now will never beat Calzaghe because simply he hasn’t been beaten. Why?? Maybe because he never fought fighters as talent them, maybe a past his prime Eubank or unproven Kessler maybe threaten that 0. Simple if RJJ wins Calzaghe will take a massive hit on his legacy but still there are one more argument left that will help out his legacy.
Number 3
Bernard Hopkins
Yes you did read right, Bernard Hopkins. You will be wondering how his old man will help Calzaghe resume and legacy. There are numerous reasons for this that he was LHW best at the time and was coming off beating Tarver and stopping Winkys run and also they all pray that Hopkins beats Pavlik. I think they are fighting at catch weight or LHW, it doesn’t matter becayse Pavlik will be fight the first time over 160 and will face Hopkins a fighter who can make anyone look bad. Just imagine what Hopkins will do for Calzaghe legacy if he beats Pavlik, it will shut up the Americans and he will retire happily after fighting RJJ. Also Hopkins and Pavlik is a 10 round fight.
What are your thoughts??
If Kessler doesn't do **** in his career and Hopkins gets KO by Pavlik and Calzaghe loses to RJJ his legacy is finished. YES OR NO
My actual thoughts?
I don't give a **** about all this one way or another. To me, Calzaghe is highly entertaining because of his work rate, his awkward style, and his ability to pull a win seemingly out of his ass every single time in spite of everyone on the planet expecting him to be KO'd at any time.
I really don't give a **** ass about his legacy, his record, or anything else (though I could probably be persuaded to give a **** about that hot chick he's dating), I'm a Zaggs fan because he's exciting to watch. Same reason I liked watching Vitali Klitchko, Ray Leonard, Marvelous Marvin, Ernie Shavers, George Foreman, Diego Corrales, and many, many others. Sheer entertainment value.
Honestly, you guys get too worked up about legacy, HOF eligibility, records/resumes...in the end, why the **** worry about it? He's either exciting to watch fight (which, after all the bull**** about technical superiority, handspeed, blah, blah, blah, is why we watch fights at all), or he's boring. If he's exciting, you should be a fan, if he's boring, you should ignore him.
I'm beginning to think some of you guys actually lie awake at nights worrying about this silly nonsense.Comment

NumberOne
'Zaghe faced a man with alot of hype + talent, just like Jeff Lacy, (yes you Yanks loved Lacy before the 'Zaghe whooping) Jeff was the new Mike Tyson......therefore if 'Zaghe beat Jeff then he would have beaten the hottest talent to come out of America correct? no, once 'Zaghe destroyed Jeff, Yanks were now claiming they never said he was skilled etc etc...**** outta here
Kessler had the same hype built around him as Jeff did, but after 'Zaghe beat both of them these two fighters now are nothing in boxing smh.
Number Two
The magic Zero is beyond impressive even with the 'Lack of threats' on 'Zaghes resume as you put it.
Eubank was past his prime correct, yet an amazing fighter like Eubank never loses the 'wow factor' that he managed to produce in his previous fights no matter what you say, In that fight Eubank still hit hard and still had fast speed, the Eubank in the fight vs 'Zaghe would still manage to beat a number of so called well respected boxers of today.
Number Three
Bernard Hopkins as much as I hate the prick is still a dangerous fighter, he's dirty just as he shown in the fight vs 'Zaghe, and he still has a massive chance of beating Pavlik, however whether he beats Pavlik or not its still an impressive name under any boxers resume.
however under the number three you seem to show an already pre made excuses for Pavlik lol, such as the moving up weight, 'Zaghe moved up weight to face Hopkins so that was a major step up aswell......
Kessler could lose all of his fights from now on and it would still not damage 'Zaghe's resume from the ones who actually follow boxing and not just the Calzaghe haters. Like I already stated, Kessler was a major threat and a huge talent in boxing. Calzaghe beat him impressively maybe that caused damage to Kessler's mindset, crazy? not really look at what happened to Jeff Lacy after the Zaghe fight.Comment

What if Hopkins crushes Pavlik in a way you never imagined, plus Jones gets crushed in a way you never imagined? All we gotta do now is wait for Kessler to batter someone decent and this thread gets bumped again.
