If anyone thinks Juan Diaz wasn't affected by his cut against Campbell

They are sorely mistaken. First of all I am not hating on Nate Campbell. He is regarded as the lightweight champion of the division and deserves that title.

In the Diaz-Campbell fight he took advantage of Juan Diaz being cut. He fought the way he needed to fight in order to win the fight. I applaud him on that and for being the WBO/IBF/WBA lightweight champion.

But you cannot say that Juan Diaz lost based on being an inferior fighter. Before he was cut the fight was close and many people thought he was winning through the first six rounds, if not it was even. Then after he is cut he loses the rest of the rounds.

Imo if he does not suffer a headbutt he gets a close decision. 7-5 in the rounds.

He was cut by a headbutt at first. Then it was opened up nasty while Campbell hit him while they were being separated during a clinch by the referee.

So you cannot base Juan Diaz being one dimensional when he is fighting with an eye full of blood and just open closed.

I am not saying this is the only reason Campbell won. I am simply saying he was given an extra advantage of Diaz having a nasty gash over his eye.

In conclusion. You cannot say in any way shape or form a fighter was exposed by not being able to win a hard all out war with one eye.

that cut definitely affected him...he needs to get rid of his cutman...i think they made it worse as the rounds went along..

however, cut or no cut, Nate wasn't letting up and seemed to get stronger as the fight went on...i'm not sure Diaz can fight another way tho...even if he wanted to, i can't see him 'outboxing' too many fighters nor see him resort to counterpunching

he is a come forward fighter whose strength lies in the volume he throws...as a fight fan, i have no problem with that 'dimension'

He was affected, but that he was so strongly affected exposed his inexperience.

I cant say for sure how the fight would have turned out, but as a fighter, sometimes you're gonna get hurt, or cut. You gotta learn how to fight through that.

I think the cut affected him more mentally. He had never had a really bad cut like that and it forced him to try to over compensate. You can clearly see that there were spots when he could have let his hands go but didnt because he was trying to cover up the eye. He didnt know how to fight with a cut that big and bleeding that much. I agree with TexanBaller because you can see Juan turning it on and coming forward and be able to fight his fight up until when the cut happened.

I say Jaun would have won 7-5 with out the cut happening.

It is his fault for skimping on a cutman...
