Conseco Fieldhouse officials are negotiating to have Indianapolis native and former World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster highlight what would be the venue’s first boxing card since 2002 this fall.
Brewster, 35, won his first fight in more than a year Saturday, scoring a fifth-round knockout of Danny Batchelder in Cincinnati. Brewster, who lives in Los Angeles, is 34-4. A potential opponent is James Toney on Oct. 11, Indiana boxing commissioner Jake Hall said.
Rick Fuson, chief operating officer of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, said: “Our guys have been talking to (Brewster), but nothing is confirmed. We might know more by the end of the week. We’d love for it to happen. We’ve been wanting him to fight here for a long time.”
