Former featherweight world champion Scott Harrison has been jailed for two months for assaulting his girlfriend, Stacy Gardner.
The incident occurred in May after the 31-year-old Scot had gone drinking just hours after being told that his uncle and mentor, Jack McGill, had allegedly committed suicide.
Harrison became involved in a row with Ms Gardner after returning to his home and then, after police had been called, was involved in another altercation with a police officer.
Harrison pleaded guilty to those attacks when he appeared in court the following month but sentencing was deferred for background reports.
However, the former WBO titlist was jailed for two months at Glasgow Sherriff Court on Tuesday morning.
"In the circumstances the only sentence I can impose is a custodial one,” sheriff Celia Sanderson stated.
Harrison, who has battled depression and alcohol abuse during his career, was already in police custody after admitting to a charge of drink driving on Monday.

People who are good for boxing should not be punished for 'crimes' like this.
