Can someone explain how Duran pulled that one off? I mean damn.

Duran was a 37 or 38 year old blown up lightweight. Iran was a HUGE middleweight with crushing power and was coming off a KO win against Tommy Hearns.

Duran got rocked a couple times but was never on the verge of being stopped or stumbling around or anything. He took some hard shots from a very big hitter and at that point in his career.

Not only did he take hard shots...but he won the damn fight.

I had it 6 rounds for each guy. That knockdown Duran scored in the 11th decided the fight on my card.

The last great performance from a GREAT fighter in Roberto Duran.

I still have this fight on tape from when I watched it live.
Duran played the macho tough mexican and did have hands of stone at lighter weights but his greatest asset was his slickness! He was arguably the best defensive fighter and counter puncher of all time.
He was like a smaller James Toney. I remember before the fight people were actually honestly afraid for Durans safety. But he was too slick for Barkley

My friend...that is why I rank Duran higher then the rest of the Fab 4. A small guy who lost to Hagler by 3 rounds!! He wen't the whole 15. Moved from 135 to 147 and beat SRL!! He skiped a division to beat a GREAT!! Whats funny is that he didn't belong in those weights. He was fat around the waist.
