Apologies all around, I did one of those quick reads on the thread title and didn't fully read the names of the fighters and thought it was the fight that ended a little earlier. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, that's right, Elgranluchador....I think there were maybe half a dozen guys who tried to tell him why that was a bad bet, but he was "100% sure" of the outcome, so what can you do, right? Hate to see him lose his cash, that's a ****ty way to learn a lesson, if he's lost it.

what are yo talking about????he bet on mijares....and the people who said it was a bad bet are ****** because their reason was wrong...they said ****ty odds=dont bet(mijares was 10-1 favourite) but mijares shoulda been a 100000 to 1 fave....the real reason it was a bad bet is: he shoulda bet more.....

A win doesn't necessarly make it a good bet, and certainly doesn't make it a smart bet. I think the point was that, unless you're clearing more than 10 cents on the dollar, it's worthless. With a $300 at 10-1, you'll clear $30, but risk the entire $300. I'm glad he won, but would've never made the bet myself. Anything can happen (cuts, bad ref, bad host country, anything), and you'er better off not bothering, at least in my experience.

By the way, when I made the post that you quoted, I didn't know the results of that fight...if you read a little closer, I think you'll see that.
