Pep and Marciano should be on this list. I voted for Sugar Ray since he was the best at several weights in an era that had allot of talented fighters. He also fought every top fighter anywhere near his weight.

You cant say Tyson, Tito or Jones would never lose in their primes when all of them did lose when they were on top. Not every fighter can be at his best physically and mentally on fight night and the great ones find ways to win in spite of being off.

I dont think that some people realize that it was like Robinson had 2 careers.

His first he went over 100 professional fights with one loss. That being Jake Lamotta in 1942 i believe. The guy was abnormal in the word itself. He avenged his loss to Lamotta not once twice even three times, but 5 times. Winning 5 outta there 6 fights. He was the greatest P4P fighter to ever live in his first career IMO was the greatest boxer the game has and ever will see.

His second career, he won over 70 fights and lost 18. Still by yester years standards, a remarkable record. Also remains that fact that in this era, the best ighters fought the best fighter bar none. No matter what weight class another great was at, they would fight each other. Remember Carmen Basillio moving up from Welterweight to fight Robinson, then the Middleweight Champion of the world. This is when fighters fought a who's who of fighters. They never ducked, disregarded, nor swerved away rfom others greats. They simply laced em up and took on all comers.

Robinson was the most gifted fighter of that generation and of any that has come and gone. If you ask experts around the sport, historians of the sport. 9 outta 10 will say that SRR was the greatest fighter to ever live. In his prime, which I consider to be around his first 100 or so fights. He was unbeatable. Noone beat him. He was Koed once in over 190 prize fights. 173-19-6 without a doubt, the greatest record of any pro boxer, and by far the greatest boxer to ever live.

Also remember that Robinson lost the drive to fight. He fought most of the latter half of his career just for money. He was broke, and broke in the truest form. And we all know that a fighter without drive, is already a beaten fighter. Point Blank!!

Pernell Whitaker...I woulda picked tyson and imo he wasnt in his prime when he fought buster douglas. Age wise yes but he was at his best when he had kevin runney in his corner.

Pernell Whitaker, Archie Moore, Felix Trinidad, Salvador Sanchez have no business up there.

I think it's easy to pick guys like Ray Robinson on his record alone. But guys whose records are somewhat obscured by poor book-keeping and unsanctioned fights it's harder to place them in the pantheon of all time greats, people like bare knuckle legend Daniel Mendoza or backroom brawler Johnny "Toucan" McGuinty. Even Jack Johnson had a large number of unsanctioned or slightly underground fights.

no one has ever even seen Ray Robinson in his prime unless theyre extremely old, cause no footage of him at his prime exists.

the most skilled fighters that Ive ever seen(at their best) are Pernell Whitaker and Roberto Duran.
