What has De La Hoya done in recent memory to deserve to dodge Margarito?

Can someone tell me please? Is it losing all of his biggest name fights? Not having a blockbuster win since 2002 (Vargas)? People he has fought big names and warriors but lets remember he lost or win controversially in almost all of them.
