Real respect for Cotto.

I wouldnt really put Rito in that group, He also has show that he would do the samething that Mayweather, oscar did when they were at the top.
Cotto wasnt really adopt that attitude and i respect him for that, Mosley would have been in that group because he fought people like Winky wright when he didnt have to but he has also adopt that attitude unless he has NOTHING to lose...You see how Mosley is willing to fight Margarito now but not before.
Even Baldomir that was on top for like 15minutes was like that to Margarito.Comment

let me give you some free advice Sterling
start beinding from your knees you only seem to bend from your waist you need to do both if you want to evade punches also stop backing up in a straight line step to the side after you punch out of the line of fire
otherwise you will be there for the receipt after you punchLast edited by Dynamite Kid; 08-29-2008, 07:56 AM.Comment

you're right, cotto never ducked a fighter, and he will never, if he gets a rematch against margarito, he#ll step up too the challengeIt seems to me that cotto is/was the only fighter who didnt avoid anyone when he was at the top, He never said stuffs like "Who is _____", It seem to me that as soon as a fighter gets to the top he adopts that attitude which is quite sad.
Only Cotto seem not to have this attitude and it makes me respect him even more.....Any other fighters apart from Cotto?Comment

I think alot of it has to do with the fact that he doesnt (yet) realize the advantages of controlling your own destiny. I cant think of a single fighter at the elite level who isnt apart of their own promotional company aside from him, having a hand in controlling their own destiny.Comment

Well, contrary to what people think i must be fair and say Floyd Mayweather. Not only because it's a known rule of the forums to use that name at least once every 10 minutes but until he turned 30 he was fighting everyone who's somebody in boxing. Specially in the 130 and 135 categories. He was 23 when he beat Chico Corrales to be considered p4p n1 and he stayed there until he retired. Cotto did also gut up and took a big risk in taking Margarito, something Floyd didn't want to do in his late career and all credit to him for that. I just hope he comes back strong because that was quite a beating he took...It seems to me that cotto is/was the only fighter who didnt avoid anyone when he was at the top, He never said stuffs like "Who is _____", It seem to me that as soon as a fighter gets to the top he adopts that attitude which is quite sad.

Cotto has indeed stepped up to the plate with just about any fighter that was put his way. You can't really **** on him for that. If I'm not mistaken though, while Cotto was at 140 he did say he needed a few more fights before he would be willing to fight Mayweather. Both fighters were with Top Rank at the time.
I still wouldn't call Cotto overrated but as much as it pains me to say it, Margarito was underrated. So Cotto took a beating, but he fought his ass off for 11 rounds and hit Tony with everything but the kitchen sink. Unfortunately Margarito has a granite chin. Both men gave a great performance. I don't know to many other guys who could withstand that kind of punishment. People need to stop bashing Cotto though. Seriously, that fight wouldn't have been as good as it was if it was someone else in the ring. Cotto helped make that fight just as amazing as Margarito did.Comment
