I've watched this fight quite a few times, and i've had different scores majority of the time i've watched it. One time i had it a draw, other times i had Castillo winning. Then i had Mayweather winning, i can never make my mind up.
But i have to say i have no idea how Castillo got credited, with that many power punches. I felt alot of his punches were hitting and holding shots to the body.
I think overall Castillo did make it more his kind of a fight, but RBR wise its very close fight. I did like Mayweather's jab in the early rounds and i thought he won majority of the early rounds, then Castillo took over after the 5th round and started to make it his kind of fight, outworking Mayweather and landing some good body shots.
I think the round i have the most trouble with is the 11th round. Because Castillo did clearly outwork Mayweather in that round, but Mayweather landed the more cleaner effective punches and stood his groud. It was very close round that probably makes the difference in most peoples scorecards.
One last thing people seem to forget is Mayweather had an injury to his shoulder, so he wasn't 100 percent in the fight.
Haha this thread. Mayweather edged him largely because he won the first half of the fight cleanly, Castillio was comming on at the end but to little to late. What 8 rounds did JLC win in that fight because there is no way he won 8 rounds with the way he fought the first 6. Close fight but by no means is this anything close to a robery or anything that history needs to be rewritten for.
Who gives a **** ass how close Castillo got. Point is he couldn't get it done. He outweighed mayweather by OVER 10 LBS on fight night and mayweather injured his arm in the early part of the fight and he still whooped Castillo's 10lbs+ advantaged ass with one arm. Then the second fight he was healthy he destroyed Castillo like a tomato can
