Luego de su sesión de entrenamiento del martes, el titular júnior mosca de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo, Iván Calderón, hizo el peso requerido de 108 libras y de inmediato enfiló sus cañones hacia su retador, el mexicano Hugo Cazares.
“Ya yo estoy en peso y ahora me voy a casa a comerme un buen bistec con arroz y habichuelas mientras el pobre Hugo tiene que estar a yogurt y un poquito de agua”, dijo Calderón en tono jocoso.
“Me siento mucho más rápido que para la primera pelea. El año pasado enfaticé demasiado en fuerza y en subir fuerte en el peso. Ahora ya estoy acostumbrado a este peso, tengo la experiencia de la primera pelea y pude enfatizar mi entrenamiento en ser más rápido aún. Cazares no me va a ver”.
En torno a los comentarios que Cazares hiciera referentes a que Calderón lo necesitaba de oponente para hacer dinero, el boricua le ripostó que es él quien lo está poniendo a ganar dinero.
“Cazares nunca había hecho tanto dinero en una pelea hasta que peleó conmigo. Si él fuera tanta atracción por qué no se ha buscado buen dinero desde la última vez que nos enfrentamos. Él sabe que el que le está dando de comer soy yo”, comentó Calderón entre risas.
“Yo vengo a esta pelea a ganar y apuesto 10-1 a favor mío. Y si gano, no dudaría subir a 112 para buscar otro campeonato y ser el único puertorriqueño en lograrlo, claro, si está el dinero de por medio necesario”.
