Oscar De La Hoya vs. Paul Williams Being Considered?

Which is why we all know this is a big facade and I personally don't put it past FMjr to come out of all this. ODLH, while great for boxing, needs to stop this as when he leaves, he will leave a trail of this same bull**** and boxing DOES NOT need this nor does his career deserve it! Leave with your legacy intact Oscar, stop trying to fool even the average of fan into thinking you aren't living up to some master plan. Pick a God damn fight already!Comment

thats the downside.
Pacman vs Oscar will be Huge moneywise.
A fight with williams or mora will not be as big.
Unless they aggressively push paul williams on a media tour and put him on every single talk **** like jay leno, letterman, regis, conan, jimmy, etc...and he has to do so much PR he wont have time to train.Comment

I think all this talk about other possible opponents is just to play hardball with Pacquiao, I think GBP are trying to make Pacquiao accept the 70-30 deal.Which is why we all know this is a big facade and I personally don't put it past FMjr to come out of all this. Yeah I agree, Pac-man is built up. But the size difference is a huge obstacle as far as taking it seriously in the mind of a mainstream fan. And Pacman barely drew 200k vs Diaz it's not like he's a PPV star himself. But you're right, he's definitely 100x more known to the mainstream fan then Williams. DLH fought guys like Quartey and Mosley when he was unknown, he has a history of doing this and taking on all comers. He fought Hopkins who was not a draw AT ALL which is even more dangerous. People just hate on him.Comment

delahoya has reasons not to fight margarito:
1. he is scared margarito will make his exit disgraceful;
2. he is afraid more mexicans will hate him more if he wins over margarito; though many
mexican boxing fans (except the ladies) already hate him;
3. he is unwilling to part with the bulk of the purse with margarito;
4. he want an easy fight.Comment

So Williams is an easier fight then Margarito?? Hahahahaha YEAH. That's why Margarito is avoiding him like the plaguedelahoya has reasons not to fight margarito:

Yeah, they would have to do massive PR for the fight to do the numbers that DLH would want for his retirement fight.thats the downside.

And you're right, internationally, a Pacquiao-DLH fight would do much better.
Exactly, people know Pacquiao, he did do 500k against Marquez so he can do well at the box office with a known opponent.Yeah I agree, Pac-man is built up. I think he had a different mindset when he fought guys like Mosley, Quartey and Hopkins, his mindset now is much more money oriented, he's more businessman than fighter.Comment

He is unwilling to bugde on the purse talks with ANYONE! Given all he's done in his last 5 or so fights, or hasn't done for that matter, why does he think he can continually steam roll people out of MILLIONS? Why? Because he can. THAT is what I don't like about ODLH and this will almost certainly be the taste he leaves in most fans mouths given the way he is treating this "farewell" fight. (The taste thing was all gayness aside lol) I just hope he picks a credible opponent and goes out the way his career deserves him to go out.Comment

Haha once again you're right bro. It definitely does look like he's changed. We'll see though. I tell you this, if he does fight Williams, DLH has bigtime guts (which I already knew he had). Doing stuff like that is huge for the sport, because one of the best future stars (Williams) was being shut out by Arum and his WW monopoly.Yeah, they would have to do massive PR for the fight to do the numbers that DLH would want for his retirement fight.
