Joe gave the younger Kessler and Lacy there shot, Pavlik deserves a shot but Calzaghe is old but IF Calzaghe choses to fight anyone after Roy it should be Pavlik. Froch is rubbish and doesn't deserve a shot, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Beaten a semi retired , Polish, very late substitute doesn't give you the right to challange the P4P number 2.

Who gives a toss what belts are up for grabs? Everyone knows that its the two best middleweights in the world going against each other. The fight is beneficial to both guys no matter what ABC trinkets are on the line.
Every piece of media talked about Pavlik's people offering Williams, Rubio and Winky Wright fights but not a mention of Abraham. Abraham didnt "make it clear" that he'd be fighting his mandatory, he has been forced into it due to no offers for big fights.
From http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=14595
During the post-fight press conference, Abraham was asked who he would rather fight, his mandatory Raul Marquez or middleweight kingpin Kelly Pavlik. "I want to fight both in the same night," Abraham jested. When Warrior's Boxing promoter Leon Margules reminded him that he was required to fight another fighter whom he promoted, Abraham explained that he would first face Marquez, then try to put all of the belts together with Pavlik.
Now, I'm sure you will still find a way to say it's Pavlik's fault.
Originally posted by Dirk Diggler UKAs for Froch....he's the WBC mandatory at 168. Surely if Jermain Taylor was positioned for a title fight against Froch in his first fight at 168, then it wouldn't have been a problem to give Pavlik the slot now that Taylor has ducked Froch. So again, I dont buy that excuse.

Pavlik hasn't campaigned to be ranked at 168, while Taylor has. As for Taylor ducking Froch, that is bull**** because he's not fighting Froch now for the exact same reasons Calzaghe's not fighting Froch (money, nothing to prove by fighting Froch yet), and nobody is accusing Joe of ducking the guy. Joe RELINQUISHED his belt in order to avoid the fight, while Taylor is taking a tune up against Lacy, who is a more accomplished fighter than Froch, for a bigger paycheck, with the winner of that fight being a mandatory for the Froch/Pascal winner.
Pavlik's team are the ones who are supposed to offer Abraham the fight in America and they didnt. Simple as. Are you ignorant enough to believe that Abraham would say "No I MUST fight Marquez first" if a multi-million dollar offer came in from Pavlik or De la Hoya (the other guy he called out).
When has Taylor campaigned at 168 apart from AGAINST PAVLIK..........which he lost. Calzaghe is not fighting Froch cos he's been a 10 year, 21 defence undefeated champion at the weight and has moved up in weight to fight a legend for big money at the tail end of his career.
Pavlik is at the peak of his career and has the nerve to call the Light Heavyweight Champ a coward for not fighting him whilst he's still down at Middleweight fighting his sparring partnerts. Why should Calzaghe take notice of Pavlik who, like Froch, has never held a title at 168, let alone 175???
Taylor ducked Froch, plain and simple. Lacy is more accomplished?. Lou Di Bella ADMITS Lacy is the easier fight and thats why Taylor is taking it. Calzaghe has nothing to prove against Froch because he's undefeated and done it all at 168. Taylor has come off the back of two losses and a lot of controversial wins yet is given the chance to fight for a title in his debut at a new weight. He has everything to prove

Again, Abraham's people didn't do anything to push a fight with Pavlik. Are you biased enough to believe that the onus was all on Pavlik's management to pursue this fight at this moment? That Abraham's team, who QUICKLY organized the Marquez fight, couldn't have done more to prompt an offer from Pavlik? Your focus is purely on "Well Pavlik didn't..." -- well what did Abraham do??? NOTHING.
Are you ignorant enough to not see that both fighters know that letting this fight simmer in the minds of fans until next year is better for their bottom lines?

Calzaghe and Taylor have both turned down Froch to fight past-their-peak fighters that can make them more money than a Froch fight would. You can diss Lacy all you want, but he has not lost 3 of his last 6 fights, or been KO'd twice, unlike Joe's next "legend"ary opponent.
And Lacy IS more accomplished than Froch, like it or not. He may be viewed as the easier fight, but he's also the bigger name and worth more $$$ to Taylor, who desperately needs a tune-up fight at this point in his career, coming off of two losses. If beats Lacy and continues to avoid a fight with Froch, assuming he is the WBC title holder, then I will accuse him of ducking, but at this point that is a laughable claim, considering Taylor has only had champions or former champions on his resume the last 3 years (including his next opponent).
As for "why should Calzaghe take note of Pavlik"... he's the one who initiated the buzz about a fight between the two of them! Get off his nuts long enough to see it! He ADMITTED taking note of Pavlik two years ago, claiming to have offered him a fight back then! He ran his mouth about Pavlik after the 2nd Taylor fight, leading up to the Lockett fight! Pavlik's not calling anyone out that didn't tease him first! He and his dad have been "taking note" of Pavlik for a long time, so your question of "why should he..." is moot, because it's already happened.

Taylor PETITIONED to be ranked by the WBC as a supper middleweight following the Pavlik fight. Pavlik did not, seeing as how he was returning to defend his title at 160. He has shown zero interest in collecting belts at higher weights thus far, so to even hint that he is avoiding Froch is ridiculous.

Why would Abraham's team make an offer to Pavlik? A German promoter can offer Pavlik the fight in Germany but we all know Yanks dont tend to stray from their comfort zone and theres no way Arum would allow it. Its down to Arum to offer Abraham the fight in America. Instead he offers weltwerweights, semi-retired fighters and eventually a fighter who he himself called "old and should be retired". Funny as ****.
Pavlik calls the Light Heavyweight Champ a coward yet he doesnt have an intention to win titles at a higher weight? What the **** are you on about? Something doesnt add up.
at you trying to make Lacy sound more credible than Jones. Calzaghe didnt turn down anything with Froch simply because he's at a new weight and is currently a level above Froch needing to prove nothing at 168. Taylor has everything to prove and is given a WBC Title shot yet turns it down admitting he's taking the easier fight against an easier opponent.
Another big laugh at Calzaghe pushing the fight "up until Lockett". Yeah Im sure Joe pissed himself watching Pavlik beat up on his little sparring partner. Calzaghe mentioned Pavlik as a possible opponent. He made it clear immediately after Hopkins that he wanted the Jones fight.

Pavlik would have a good chance against Calzaghe, but i don't for a second think he would actually beat him. Calzaghe would just adapt and change his style midfight.
As for Froch, who cares what he thinks, bit of a shame his main publicity comes through slating a dual ring champion.
Calzaghe vs Jones is most likely for the money, but any boxer who has had a title for that long or even been in the title scene for that long deserves that payoff to make sure them and their family is comfortable or more than comfortable for the rest of their lifes!
