if margarito didnt bust up cottos nose would cotto win the fight????

i am hearing people say this and i think its just ******. cotto has faded in many other fights and his nose was never bloody and broken in them. the fact is margarito is just the baddest man in the planet and his relentless pressure destructive power neverending stamina and his lack of regard for human life were just to much for cotto. these men could fight 100 times and margarito would knock him out every time. its just plain and basic common sense.

I don't think it would have made too big of a diffrence, maybe Cotto would have made it to the end of the fight but I think Margarito would have won anyway, momentum was going his way.

The nose definitely didn't help though.

no question cotto gassed, and the nose (although it was probably more the unnecessary lateral movement) played a part.

but that is a lame excuse. it's not like it's cheating to bust someone's nose.

Cotto would not have won. He would have lost a somewhat close UD. The call for an immediate rematch would have been more aggressive though.

Tony beat him fair and square. The excuses need to stop. Didn't JMM fight 11 rds wit a broken nose against Pac? Ain't damagin your opponent the point of fightin him? This excuse is a blatant attempt by people to **** on Tony's win. Cotto himself didn't use this an excuse so why do his fans?

I mostly agree. Cotto lost because he was the one not making an intelligent fight. But medically speaking, his PO2 was much lower due to the injury. Lack of oxygen carried by hemoglobin to all the tissues in his body WOULD HAD DEFINITELY WEAKEN HIM MUCH MORE THAN EXPECTED. So, I have to say it was a factor, not an excuse, as both fought as warriors and there could be only ONE winner. There is always a reason for you to win or lose, duh!!!

This is getting dumber and dumber.

If Tarver hadn't landed that left square on Jones' jaw do you think he woulda won?

If Jose Louis Castillo had stronger ribs do you think he would've beaten Hatton?

I'm sure it affected Cotto's breathing thus making him tire easier.

No, Cotto was hurt to the body too.

The question is like saying, If Tarver hadn't punched Jones in the face would he have lost the fight?

Evangelista himself said that Cotto's nose was not broken. Although it did bleed that is not at all uncommon in a boxing match when someone is punching you repeatedly in the face......
