A lot depends on how either one loses but I doubt they'd be finished, they're still young and would still have pretty good futures IMO.

Both guys are coming off losses...in this day and age a couple of losses are enough to end careers. Not to mention the depth at lightweight. Thatd have to be more than an impressive comeback to climb back into those rankings

Not career ending losses for either guy.

But they'd be relegated to gatekeeper status for years.

          So it's near that.

i think that you are wrong here. They are both big draw boxers and they are a good scalp to have. The lightweight division is so crowded with talented boxers right now and i think that will work in both their favours as there are lots of potential high profile fights even to the loser of this fight.

I think the starter of the thread needs to brush up on his boxing knowledge if he thinks a loss for either will finish them. they are young Diaz is very skillfull which people love to watch and Katsidis is possibly the most exciting fighter in the world for his brawling style.

both would def be taken fat asss steps backwards
i mean its one thing to lose to an old veteran
which theyre both comin off of
but they both lost in a major way
katsidis being kod and diaz just being completed handled the whole fight
now u go and lose to a young fighter who like u just took a major defeat
its very much live or die for these guys career for this fight

It would be a huge step back for him. Katsidis can more afford the loss than Diaz at this point, as he has yet to really establish himself as a top fighter. Diaz did, but suffered the fate of many young fighters with as much success and fell off on an upset loss. Now he has to climb back up the ladder to prove he belonged there in the first place.

At the end of the day boxing is a business and consumers are fickle. Why market a young fighter who's lost 2 big fights in a row when the division is so stacked there are still a whole handful of young fighters making statements by getting the big wins boxer1 couldn't??

i believe that because the division is so staked that both these guys can afford to lose and still be a pretty big player in the division
