  • Rumor: Floyd to Un-Retire and make 70 million vs DLH?

This is from AllHipHop. I know it's a rumor, but could he really be making that much money, or at least in that range of money? I call bull****, unless Oscar really wants Floyd. Floyd made what almost 30 mil. off of the first fight? Unless he gets the big split, this is bull****.

I believe the part about im coming back and making maybe 30 - 40 mill. But thats about it,

    What are you're thoughts?

    THE RETURN OF FLOYD MAYWEATHER!

We all knew this wasn’t going to last for very long, but here we are. I am hearing that Floyd Mayweather will make good on his new name, Money Mayweather. I don’t know if you all know, but “Money” retired and did a good job holding out, but some events happened in boxing that are rumored to making that flip. First, Oscar De La Hoya has seen some big fights fall through for him recently. He’s been left without a suitable opponent that can also create and “event.” Before he and Floyd fought, De La Hoya had the upper hand in the negotiations, but those days are apparently OVER. I heard that Floyd is going to get $70 million to return and there will be some sort of equitable split from that point on. Can you believe it? Sure you can. We all knew that money would bring “Money” back out and about. This fight should be fairly epic based on the hype alone. Now if the heavyweight division could get it together….

    70 million just seems impossible.

Hahahahaha!!!!! None of those 2 fighters together is worth 70 million. Not after a fight like Cotto/Margarito. No.

A rematch wont generate that kind of money. Nobody's interested in seeing it.

Thats what I am saying. Maybe thats what Oscar made with his promotions, advertising, live gate, PPV sales, Merchandise sales, money from the Hotel that hoseted it. But thats with him taking a 70-30 split. He will never give May more than 60-40.

I don't think their second fight will do better then the first one in terms of PPV buys, 70 million is just excessive..

Yeah I think they are relying too much on the Floyd Sr. vs Floyd Jr. thing. It will bring some anticipation, but not more than the first fight.

70 million is excessive if you take into account that DLH wants to make more then his opponents, it makes it even more unrealistic..
