I'm backing Hopkins to neutralise and beat Moby...

it can't be that good if Hopkins dropped him that easily. up until Joe, Hopkins hadn't dropped anybody in four years and that was De La Hoya and Allen (who he had already knocked out years ago). Joe also got put down by that no-hoper Mitchell too
but I think I'll end up picking Hopkins too as Pavlik is overrated as hell. I thought Taylor won the rematch with him. Pavlik is the most one dimensional guy on pound for pound lists, and he's begging to be exposed by anyone who can box.
with that said, Hopkins is 43Comment

Roach said he wont even train Hopkins for the fight. He said he fears Hopkins is gonna get really hurt. He isnt active enough to win rounds, and he doesnt hit hard enough to keep Kelly off of him. Hopkins is easy to outwork at this age, and he doesnt throw much in return. UD Pavlik.Comment

You will be. I've looked at this from every angle, and I don't see any way for Hopkins to win. If he were able to go 12, I'd have him by UD too, but he can't. And I just can't see him putting Pavlik down early bo KO win. Not saying Hopkins has no power, just that he's pretty conservative with what he has, preferring to throw fewer, quicker, accurate shots than to try and load up and do any serious damage.
The Calzaghe KD was more from being off balance and tangled than getting caught, and Hopkins is very, very skilled at producing knockdowns this way. He'll get you off balance, overextended, and give you a tap on the chin to topple you, and bank that 10/8 round.
The most telling part of the entire Zaggs/Bhop fight was when Hopkins faked the low blow for a break. That alone tells me he's just not capable of going 12 rounds with any notable work rate. If Zaggs had been bigger than Hopkins, he'd have been in much more serious trouble than having to worry about how bad the cards were going to look. And Pavlik is significantly larger framed, stronger naturally, and is always ready to throw 100 punches per round for 12. On top of all that, he's seriously heavy handed...every punch he throws has a good amount of steam on it, and even if he just beats on your arms, it will take it's toll eventually.
Additionally, if Hopkins gets unlucky and gets a judge that doesn't favor him, he could end up losing points for excessive holding and intentional headbutts (both of which he would richly deserve), and this alone could rule out any chance of a Hopkins win.
The chance of Hopkins winning this, in my opinion, is almost nil. Barring unforseen circumstances, he'll either throw almost nothing, saving his energy so he'll end the fight on his feet and lose a lopsided decision, or he'll throw more than he can afford and get stopped after mid-rounds.
There is a chance, though, that Hopkins will intentionally get himself DQ'd if he feels he's going to get stopped....he might consider that preferrable to being stopped for the first time in his career.Comment

Pavlik is a different one dimensional monster though. He has good timing in his punches, knows when to mix it up and he has a good workrate. B-Hop has trouble with activity and boxers that can pack a punch. Although, B-Hop is much better against come forward fighters. Pavlik is clearly much stronger than B-Hop's last 2 opponents.
Pavlik is a right handed winky with extra power with a Calzaghe-like workrate lol...Comment
