    Clottey-Berto

I know this has probably been done, but I've just now finally watched Judah-Clottey. I don't know if Berto wants to fight Clottey at this point. He'd have to fight very patiently and concentrate on taking seven clean rounds.

Clottey's face is a nearly perfect cut for a boxer. Maybe his jaw is a bit more angular than ideal, but that thing is still a tough target.

Clottey would win. It's too early for Berto IMO.

I feel Berto has infinitely more skills than Clottey. Problem is he might be one of those guys who fights down or up to his opposition.
I've seen Clottey fade big late, but also maintain late so if Berto gets him on the right night, he could outbox him.
Berto is a quick guy with some heavy hands. If he is there mentally, and doesn't get discouraged, he could conceivably win a decision.
I don't think judges are terribly kind to Clottey (except in that premature stoppage a while back on the Versus channel where that guy wasn't even hurt and clottey was awarded the tko)

I think he potentially has more skills than Clottey but I would like to see him face better opposition before Clottey to see just how good he is, facing guys like Rodriguez and Forbes don't really give an accurate indication of how good he is.

But the potential is definitely there.

Berto HAS to go to the body against clottey. If he doesn't he will be wiped out. His speed is better but Clottey is too tough for Berto imo. Berto is open for those left hooks to the head and body, and I think a Clottey uppercut might finish the fight. I dunno if I'm seeing things, but it seems to me that Berto is open for an uppercut. Another problem is Bertos chin, which is not very good. If used his jab well and goes to the body, he could set up the big stuff up stairs. But Clottey would pick off his shots and counter with left hooks and uppercuts. Then in the middle rounds he would come forward, and pound away with lead hooks to the body and head. I think Berto would not know how to deal with phsyical and mental pressure Clottey would apply by not backing up. I also think Berto might be frustrated with the experience of clottey aka: the head butts and low blows...ect. In the end, I think Berto had to work on his defense, consitently go to the jab to set up his shots ( and go to the body), not get discouraged that he's getting hit to come away with a win. I don't think he is ready for that. Clottey would pound away and win by some sort of knockout in the 9-11 round area.

Clottey no question. Give Berto a few years before going against a defensive puzzle like that.

My whole problem with Clottey is that he has a poor transition from defence to offense. I feel if you a relentless and aggressive against him (not reckless) you can make him be on the defensive for large portions of a fight. Clottey is good in both areas though, he is pretty hard to hit in the head and he has nice crisp punches when he decides to throw.

Berto has a great offensive style and has some good all around skills, to me the question would be if he could stay relentless for 12 rounds (or most of them). Clottey does not really have huge power but over the course of a fight he can put a hurting on people, Berto's durability has not been tested like this but if you have not been tested it is hard to say how someone would do. Judah landed some nice body shots on Clottey and he was slowing down in that fight when it end (althogh Judah was slowing down more) and Clottey does have a history of fading in fights.

Clottey is a cut above all the guys Berto has beat so far, but that does not really mean that Berto could not step up and beat him. If they fought tomorrow i would probably favor Clottey by a small margin but as time goes by i think that Berto would become the favorite. I would probably bet on the guy getting the better odds for the most part unless the odds were very close.
