The casual fans never know when a good match is on, unless informed by one of thier diehard friends. On top of that, Most ppv's that we pay in excess of $50-60 for arent exciting enough to justify the cost. As a result of that, casual fans are turned off, and reluctant to purchase future ppv events. Too many fights that SHOULD be happening, are not due to greed and the politics of the sport. Its a shame when a sport like MMA has more consistancy than a sport like boxing that has been around for over 100yrs!
Boxing is too inconsistant to be a mainstream sport.

i agree 100%. but as long as you got ****ing old pricks like bob arum deciding what fights are going to be made (or if someone god forbid makes him mad then we will never fight them) then boxing will always come in behind other sports. in ufc you got dana white making all the fights and that is why you see all the great fights you do. why dont arum do us all a favor and

Boxing in in serious trouble
Overpriced PPV prices for events that are not exciting with fighters the casual fan has never heard of.Comment

why does everybody fight 1 or 2 times a year now? do they not know how short a boxing career can be? well at least a prime boxing career. nobody wants to be great nomore? then you got oldtimers like bernard and roy who are regreting not being busier early on in their careers.Comment

I agree. I think if Mayweather stayed he could have helped alot. Guy has been famous and known outside of boxing and him fighting the best still, he would have made boxing better and more fans. He hurt the sport that helped build him.
And blame HBO and promotors for putting fights like Pac-Diaz, Casamayor-Marquez, Hopkins-Pavlik [Hopkins lost his last fight, Pavliks last fight was againest an uninteresting fighter, thus don't see how they deserve a PPV spot when even a title isnt on the line] on the air. Nowadays boxing isn't for pride and glamor.
Its for money.Comment

If Floyd would've staying in the game, and fought the top guys that the boxing world was calling for, he most definitely would've helped the sport. Too bad he was only concerned with helping himself. I have nothing against him putting his own priorities first, but i did expect him to give something back to the fans who helped make him the millionaire he is today.Comment

Not to mention most of the up and coming fighters who want that golden ticket fight so they fight bums for 30 or so fights until/and or if they get the shot. Boxing should be fought in an elimination tournament style. The casual fans never know when a good match is on, unless informed by one of thier diehard friends.
