Not All Chicanos Hate Pacman, Im Chicano And I Respect The Man And He Is One Of My Favorite Boxers Out There..i Will Be Going For Pacman If He Fights Odlh Even Though I Know He Will Most Likly Lose.this Is The Strange Truth Lol
I Wonder Why That Is That The Chicanos Dislike Pacman More Then The Actual Real Mexicans?
I Remember Julio Cesar Chavez Jr And Senior Greeting Pacman Before His Fight With Solis And Chavez Sr Said He Is A Big Fan Of Pacman And Said Campeon!
I Think Its Because The Chicanos Want To Be Mexican And They Hate It That A Non Mexicano Gets To Be An Icon In Mexican Boxing While They Are Looked At As Pochos.Comment

Like most people, I dont really have anything against Pac personally. He seems like a nice guy for the most part. I also get along welll with Filipino Americans as I grew up in a neighborhood with a sizable Filipino population. My biggest criticism comes against the most rabid Pac fans rather than Pac himself. They give him credit for defeating guys like Morales without acknowledging the obvious fact that he was at the end of his career. Many of those fans are also downright racists. Their perception of Mexicans and Mexican Americans is often based on what they see in the media and they have this completely unjustified sense of superiority because of it. It's not only directed at Mexicans either, they also started racial **** with Thais and Armenians after Darch faced Donaire and Gorres. They'll pretty much hurl personal insults at anyone who criticizes Pac in any way including writers, analysts or commentators. Those rabid Pac fans may not make up the majority of his fan base but unfortunately they are the most vocal.
As far as Pac being icon in Mexico, well that's just plain ridiculous. Boxing just isnt as popular there as it once was. Most have probably heard of Pac at some point but the majority arent all that aware of his accomplishments let alone have strong feelings about him one way or another. Jorge Arce is one of the most popular boxers in Mexico today and that's mainly because of his personality and his appearances on reality shows. In general, Mexican Americans are even less likely to follow boxing. Most prefer mainstream American sports and sadly some actually prefer MMA over boxing. When Margarito defeated Cotto I was so pumped that I told everyone I knew about the fight but most of my fellow Chicanos were completely unaware of it. The typical response was "Oh yeah, I think I saw their weigh in on the news. Which one was Margarito?". Damn pochos.

Erik Morales at the end of his career still would've stomped a mudhole in anyone at the superfeatherweight division at the time not named Barrera or Pacquiao. So why is it such a scapegoat for chicano fans???Comment
