Klitschko Says Povetkin Talks To Be Resolved Soon

IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has informed BoxingScene.com that negotiations with unbeaten WBO mandatory Alexander Povetkin may result in a deal within a week. The two sides have been haggling over money and German television rights for the last few weeks, but cooler heads are prevailing. [details]

Although this is one of the best HW fights that could be made today, it makes much more sense to both if Povetkin takes some step aside money and let Wlad fight Valuev for the WBA belt with the winner fighting Povetkin till February of 2009. That way Povetkin will be fighting for 3 belts instead of 2 and he could set a moneymaker fight with Krasniqi in Germany while waiting.

Sergei23 must have a hard time choosing a winner. Both are white eastern european fighters.

      What a tough one.

I personally think Wlad will jab his way to a boring ass UD.

Whenever they fight, Wlad will whomp him.

I agree with this post. Alexander could get some more much-needed seasoning too.

Yeah, these are Tunney's two favorite HW's as well. He told me he'd be slightly routing for Wlad but doesn't want the fight to happen because they are his favorites. It sucks sometimes when two of your favorites have to square off but hey, it's boxing.

I can relate because that's kinda how I'm feeling about Pavlik vs. Hopkins.

I think so as well although I haven't seen much of Povetkin.

He seems sturdy, But is open to right hands. And Wlads right hand is no joke, Povetkin will have to strengthen his defense or hope he has a great chin to make it 12 with Klitschko IMO.
