Doesn't matter if Miguel Cotto was a natural welterweight, he still started his career and won a title at light welterweight.

This thread is a big stretch, Cotto has fought guys his weight and size always - he has also defeated natural welters like quintana.

I think the battle there is the fact that Margarito seems to be more of a 154lb fighter rather than 147lbs...but as long as he can make weight and dominate I can't knock him...

To say Mosley and Judah are smaller than Cotto is flat out silly.

Let's say Hagler picked on smaller guys too, Duran who came straight from jr.middle and was a lightweight.Leonard who was a welter coming out of retirement, Hearns was a jr.middle/welter. C'mon man, Cotto has faced a way better opposition than Margarito, who has 5 losses. I don't take away his big win over Cotto.

Mosley: beat Oscar at 154, Vargas twice at 154.
Judah: beat Spinks and fought well against PBF, the p4p king.
Quintana: beat Williams who had beaten Margarito.
                This thread is so silly.

                  1. Danny Perez2x 147-150 pounds
                  2. Andrew Lewis 147-154 pounds.... Sergio Martinez(147-154)
                  3. Hercules Kyvelos 147-154 pounds

The only 2 fighters he fought that were natrually smaller than him were Manuel Gomez(135) and Golden Johnson(135).. and those were "stay busy" fights. Not his big wins like the small guys Cotto picked on.
Are you ******? Shane Mosley was a champion at 154...What happened when Marg tried to step up to 154? I am a Marg fan dont get me wrong, but Cotto wasnt picking on smaller men. He fought a natural WW in Quintana in his WW debut. Granted, Urkal,Judah, and Mosley all started their careers in smaller weight classes, but they were all adjusted to WW. And Mosley was a world champion at 154, moving back down to 147.

Cottos, Ricky Hatton, I say hes were he should be at Welterweight. He could be at Superfeatherweight with Floyd, De La Hoya and Pacman.

You need to read more my firend...All fighters (with the exception of most Heavy Weights) start out a llower weight class and look to move up. They look to start where they have a natural advantage and are stronger naturally then others. Cotto beat the best the 140lb had to offer and then moved up to 147. he is 5'8 take a look at most 140lb fighters and see what the average height is for that division I bet it is between 5'7 and 5'10.L et's look at the top 3 for example Hatton 5'7.5, Kendall Holt 5'9 and Paul Malignaggi 5'8.5. I think Cott at 5'7 fits in there pretty good. Now you say Mosely is a true 135lb fighter he fought everyone at WW held multiple belts in bvoth WW and the 154 LB divisions. He best Oscar for the 154 lb title and fought against guys like Wright, Vargas and Forrest. Judah who is a bum now at one time was the undisputed WW Champ. I know I have said this over and over again but as someone pointed out to me in another thread you don't get to be undisputed dchamo by not being a quality fighter. I just get frustrated with Judah sometimes. I know he is a great fighter. As for Oktay Urkal he was also a fighter trying to move up to 147 Cotto took him out. Urkal is 5'8.5 by the way not to small of a man for 147.....Lefty
