They really need to have a 3rd place boxoff... seriously.

This 2 bronze medals business is bull****. You are either the 3rd best fighter in the weight class, or you are not. There is no such thing as a tie.

    Thoughts?

The two losers of the semifinal bouts are automatically bronze medalists. I don't even think they fight each other.

I concur fully, but trust me, that scoring system should be tarred and feathered.

Oh my god, I agree. I understand that there is corruption in this ****, but scoring boxing on punches landed alone is dumb, and prevents fighters from doing anything but pitter-pattering, which makes the sport lame.

The only upside of Olympic boxing for me so far (this is the first year I've watched) is watching how BADASS the Cubans are at amatuer boxing. Just ****ing incredible.

So does the mandatory who lost to the champion... It's a competitive sport... people are supposed to feel bad, because there have to be losers.

Knockdowns aren't even counted most of the time from what I've seen, which is ******. 2 points minimum IMO.

I haven't seen any body punches counted either. **** this system.

I don't really follow Olympic boxing anymore. It's as crooked as anything.

Me either. Even before Jones got bent over at the olympics, it was a farce. I truly believe all amature boxing should be scored exactly like pro boxing, olympics included. No reason for it not to be.

Yeah it really doesn't make sense that they don't have the two guys that lost in the semi's to fight each other. I wonder what there logic behind that is. Watching Olympic boxing has been dissapointing not only because the US has not done well, when I thought they had good fighters, but also the scoring is so frustrating. You see guys landing shots and not getting any credit for them and sometimes I swear a guy gets a point without landing a punch. If I didn't like boxing as much as I do, I would have stopped watching a while back.
