Villa's career was cut short because he died from infection after a fight he beat Wilde one of only 2 other men to do so and various other highly ranked contenders etc.

Villa is within the top 2 greatest flyweights ever second only to Wilde in my book.
pancho villa is not just a great pinoy fighter he is probably one of the best flyweights of all time! the kid was barely in his 20s and had so many fights and was just getting better.

Xcaret is just mad cause that little pinoy was jack dempsey homey and he was ****ing fine as blonde hollywood stars while the mexicans were not **** back then.

Other good/great fighter from the phillipines are ceferino garcia (middleweight champ), erbito salavarria (flyweight champ), ben villaflor (two time super feather champ) and ofcourse Manny Pacquiao will join that list.

dont forget that cat Rolando naverette.

the thing I noticed is many of these filipinos had great talent but they lacked the proper trainers, nutrition and diet etc...they were just fighting basically self taught.

Saddler was 30 when Elorde fought him and lost by UD IN the Phillippines.. what a surprise... the next fight was stopped due to a cut and got the victory, lets not forget he was losing the fight, also, it was Saddlers third LAST fight.... who the **** is Allotey? Whos Gomez? Whos Kosaka? A bunch of nobodies..

Villa also fought a old Jimmy and happend to be his last fight, after he got the belt he fought nothing but bums to "defend" his title.

I said top 10 by the way

Naverette was good but he came up short alot gave a good showing against Arguello. I assume boxing has grown in popularity because of Pacquaio in the Philipines so that should be the reason so many prospects are coming out of there, alot of the prospects are being moved along too fast though

is a guy with 13 fights too much for a prospect?

Thing is back then there were alot less name fighters because you didn't have multiple champions a guy like Margarito would get no credibility for beating Cintron in the early 20's because there is only one champ. Lots of people fought the same guy twice and robberies happened alot less fighting in another country isn't like now showing an American fighitng in Germany and getting robbed.
