King was convicted of second degree murder for the second killing after he was found guilty of beating to death an employee who owed him $600. In an ex parte meeting with King's attorney, the judge reduced King's conviction to nonnegligent manslaughter for which King served just under four years in prison.

he also robbed many other boxers as well.

The greatest promoter of all time is probably Tex Rickard.

In all fairness to Rickard, his events, though grand for the time, don't compare in magnitude to what Don King was able to accomplish. Thrilla in Manila, Rumble in the Jungle, these weren't just fights, they were cultural events.

It was another time for Rickard. He was very schrewd. Had a long promotional career. Among his greatest achievements was making the first million dollar fight.

For those who don't know about him please check this: http://www.ibhof.com/rickard.htm
