Why do you love Boxing?

I love boxing for so many reasons. Boxing is like that feeling that you get when your nervous, scared, or excited to me. I can't really tell you what that feeling is but that feeling is a good feeling, its a feeling of being alive. I love boxing because of buildup and then blam the fight is here and the moment is now. Every big fight to me feels like your first orgasam. I love the competition knowing that these guys put months of training in just for a 36 minute fight. Most of all I love boxing because of the battle.
Boxing to me is like no other sport. It is two men in one ring infront of the whole world. In just your trunks and shoes you are exposed to the world. Standing man vs man is an authentic style to me and can be matched by no sport. The bright lights and the crowd, yet when its all broken down its just you and that other man that wants to rip your head off. In boxing there are no time outs, there is no where to hide, there is no way to quit or to make excuses the limelight is on you. Also the heart that is shown in this sport. Unlike any other sport this is life and death. This is non stop punishment. You can never see a mans heart till you see him in a fight. Will he crumble or will he rise to the challenge. This is why I love boxing and theres so much more to it but I will stop.Comment

I started out liking boxing like most kids, got a lil caught up with Tyson's crazy ass being that he was easy access to hear about even for a non boxin fan. Then I started finding new favorite boxers like De La Hoya and Gatti, again, like most new boxin fans. Then I started seeing people like Hopkins or Roy Jones who did a lot for my interest. Then I developed more interest and I remember seeing Ledwaba fight, and thought wow I'd like to see him again. Then they put him up against Pacquiao on short notice and I happened to catch it. I thought this poor asian kid is gonna get his head snapped back all night until he quits or goes into a coma, and Pacquiao destroyed Ledwaba. Haven't missed a Pacquiao fight since and now I watch them all and have gone back since to see all the fights I wanted to see from favorite boxers like Hopkins, Toney, Jones Jr, Whitaker, etc..
I just realized that's how I got into boxing and not why I like boxing.. Hmm tougher question I suppose. I guess it's to sit in my chair, eat doritos and donuts, drink beer, and call professional athletes that risk their careers, health, and their public image, and call them cowards!Last edited by Spiegelo; 08-17-2008, 10:22 AM.Comment

Been a boxing fan since I was 6-7 years old.
I love the competition and drama..one on one..no help from "teamates", just you, your body, training and most importanly your will.
Offense and defense shifting back and forth in seconds..like high speed chess, so to speak.
I love watching it and I enjoyed doing it (as a "hobby", not a business).
