I cant see calzaghe winning this fight at all from any angle. I cant even believe people actually think Roy has no chance. Roy Jones hands down will easily dominate this fight. I can even say he will knock Joe out within 10 rounds. His speed, accuracy, power, and intelligence are all towering when compared to the same stats of Calzaghe. I think he will simply outbox Calzaghe, and will prob. catch him with a strong KO punch while Calzaghe is throwing one of his slapping flurries.

So please if you are going for Calzaghe explain how and why you think he will win. Thank you.

Calzaghe is no overblown past his prime trinidad or a bum Hanshaw. Calzaghe will outwork jones and win a clear cut decision. Think Jones -Tarver 3.

It is simple. Calzaghe has four things: workrate, mobility, aggression and chin that are going to give Roy hell. Roy retains some good handspeed, and probably has more power than Calzaghe, but two things he definitely has lost are the spring in his step and his stamina. This being so, he will find it very hard to dominate Calzaghe because 1) he won't be able to match Calzaghe's mobility around the ring, and 2) he won't be able to throw enough punches to keep Calzaghe on the backfoot. He just won't be able to do it. What Calzaghe will do to win is move around Roy to create attacking opportunities faster than Roy can keep up with comfortably (mobility), throw a **** load of punches (workrate), and seek to pressurise Roy at medium distance to prevent Roy from getting those crisp straight punches off (aggression), whenever he does take Roy's shots he will keep on coming (chin).

This is how Joe Calzaghe will win the fight.

            abadger,
Although i dont agree with you i thank you for not being a flamer and actually replying with knowledge.
I think Roy will be moving instead of staying stationary and trying to fight toe to toe, cuz he knows Joe is all over the place so he wont let him run around him, he will move too and draw Joe in, then counter while Joe comes in with his hands down. Lets not forget that Jones still has great defense and even though he's lost the spring in his step, he is still much faster than joe.
On the other hand, I can see Jones pressuring Joe all night like he did with Tito and just chopping him down with body shots and combos til Calzaghe folds.

well ever since calzaghe beat my local hero, i have kind of been against him. not to sound like a wuss but that hurted to see kess being broken down like that and anything he tried to do joe had a counter attack for it. i like joe by hard fought decision but something in me wants to see jones knock him spark out.

Ha, so you basically think that Roy is going to do to Joe what I say Joe is going to do to him! I don't really need to add much to what I posted, apart from to say that I really don't think that Roy can do those things anymore. I'm pretty sure he's no longer faster on his feet than Joe is, I'm certain he hasn't got the stamina to pressurise anyone consistently and I also disagree that Roy has great D, I don't think he ever did.

Roy did look better in his Trinidad fight than he had previously, but you have to remember that Tito Trinidad is fairly old and washed up himself. In that fight for the most part the two guys just stood in front of each other hitting each other. Tito also has no real business being at LHW in the first place. I don't mean to pick on Roy or disparage him, but I really think that Tito was picked exactly in order to make Roy look good and as the biggest name he would definitely beat.

I should add, that I do want Roy to perform well, because I would much rather watch a competitive boxing match. I'm sure he will have his moments, but I just can't see it any other way I'm afraid. His best chance is if Calzaghe gets old overnight, which could happen, he's pushing it on the age front himself, but based on the Hopkins fight, I don't expect this to happen.

Calzaghe will win because he's faster, tougher and has a better workrate.
