Antonio Margarito don't be a hypocrite!

You have a legitimate reason to call for the fight with DLH starting with his statement of wanting to fight the victor of Cotto-Margarito but trying to say he should stop picking on little guys is a little hypocritical coming from you, a guy who boils himself down to 147 to be one of the biggest welterweights around in a long time. You deserve the DLH fight and as a fan I would love to see it. I understand your tactics you think that by insulting DLH you can get him fighting mad but honestly I dont think he ever intended to fight you or Cotto. Not because your too tough but because you aint a big enough mainstream draw.

See at the end of the day Oscar is just after Dinero not boxing glory mainly cause he's been there done that and you just dont got the goods in terms of drawing ability. Not many do carry enough "financial weight" to lasso the Golden boy for last hurrah.

So get back in that square ring and beat some heads in while unifying the welterweight division. Then you could go one step further and challenge Kelly Pavlik for the middle weight crown, Oscar did it but are you man enough to try? Thats what real boxing fans want to see!

stop it already, everybody looks the other way when Williams fight and he's a big welterweight, everybody used to start and say Cotto was a big welterweight but now that he got whooped on by Margarito people feel sorry for him, this thread sucks!

First off Cotto isnt a big welterweight he's 5'7 he fought the majority of his career at 140, plus this is not even part of why I made this thread. Cotto got beat, great fight Tony as a boxing fan I appreciate his performance but facts are facts and his recent statements are obvious tactics to bait DLH, you dont think so? I agreed in the post that DLH shouldnt make promises he doesnt intend to keep, I am on Margarito's side on that but you cant make a guy fight you he should know that by now. My main beef with TOny is hammering DLH for wanting to fight Pacman.
Let me put it this way to you though : If Pacman's camp had discussions with Margarito's camp about fighting him for the welterweight championship do you think Tony would turn him down? Hell no the guy is a cash cow and would be a potentially easy fight for him based on size advantage alone. Understand?

Listen. The one thing that has been consistent about Oscar is his inconsistency. Floyd was his last fight. Then he was gonna fight three more fights. Then he was gonna fight two fights. He was gonna fight Hatton at Wembley. He was gonna fight on September 16 (mex ind day?). Then he would never fight a Puerto Rican. Then he would fight the winner of Cotto-marg.

Watch: If Oscar doesn't get the fight he wants, he will delay.

This is why you don't pin your hopes on Oscar. The initial DLH-PBF fight was s'posed to be in Fall of 2006, remember? When that fell through, Floyd made his own fight v. TaTa. That is what Tony should do. Forge ahead independent of Oscar. And if the DLH fight comes along, great. If not, he is still doing his own thing.

Please remember that Tony turned down a previous career high payday from GBP to face Winky at 154.

Golden Boy: "We Have Three For Margarito"
LOS ANGELES – In recent weeks, there has been a hearty dose of bluster from the camp of WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, claiming that he is the ‘most feared fighter in boxing’, and that no one is willing to fight him.

Golden Boy Promotions has the solution to Mr. Margarito’s problem in securing an opponent for a fight this year – in fact, it has three solutions in pound for pound superstar Winky Wright, former junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma, and rising star Ishe Smith, all of whom are willing to battle Margarito at a moment’s notice.

'I respect Antonio Margarito as a fighter, but his claims that no one wants to fight him are baseless,' said Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. 'We already offered Margarito’s promoter, Top Rank, a fight against Winky Wright, but they declined, saying that Margarito was not a middleweight. Well, we never discussed this fight as being at middleweight. Winky is more than willing to come down to 154 pounds for this fight, and given the fact that Margarito has fought at junior middleweight before and has called out other junior middleweights like Shane Mosley, Cory Spinks, and myself, I don’t see why this fight can’t be made.'

'And just in case Margarito doesn’t want to challenge himself against Winky Wright,' continues De La Hoya, 'we have two more warriors who are eager to test themselves against him – Kassim Ouma and Ishe Smith, both of whom can fight at 147 pounds.'

The ball is in your court, Antonio.

It seems that GBP dislikes Tony Margarito. Why?

Margarito has fought every big welterweight in the division and he's a hypocrite lmao?

Seriously, I'll never understand most of the logic posted on here..lol

And you also suggest Tony moves up to fight Kelly Pavlik?

You serious? lol You have to be a pissed Cotto fan....

Margarito vs Williams/Clottey are the only 2 big fights Tony should have his mind on. In the mean time, rest. He's already takin on EVERY WW powerhouse there is, he needs to rest and then hit the video tapes.

Now if Oscar vs Tony gets made, Oscar should respect Marg afterwards and then immediately go for Paul Williams.

Margarito will say pretty much say anything to secure his place as Oscar's last opponent. Nothing wrong with that. I say give DLH **** and call him out everyway you can, cause Margarito-DLH is a fight I'***e to see.

Also, for the first time in his career, Margarito is positioned to "make" fights of his choice, and not just "take" fights that are available.

this is a true statement lets see how it plays out but the intention of this thread is simply to state a fact that Antonio has maintained a rep of being a no nonsense, very large welter, who has fought his way to the top. I am glad he is taking on Clottey who like Williams is the only welter to have a claim at beating him(until his hand injury) We all know that Margarito is a more natural jr middle but has a knack for boiling down to 147 and while I understand his tactics for calling out DLH he should maintain the high road instead of being a hypocrite in this regard. I would love to see Margarito move up take on Santos again and go for a title at jr middle or even someone at middle weight. DLH did even tho I thought Sturm probably should have gotten the draw or slight points victory, DLH was brave enough to try.
