Tyrone Brunson held to a draw, ends KO Streak

The 19-bout first round KO streak of middleweight Tyrone Brunson (19-0-1, 19 KOs) came to an abrupt halt as he was held to a six round majority draw by Antonio Soriano (12-9-2) on Friday night at River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton. Soriano came on strong late in the bout with a brutal body attack. Judges saw the bout 56-56 twice and 58-56 Brunson. The majority draw decision was met with boos from the 800 in attendance, while Soriano received a huge round of applause for his performance. Brunson began his career with 19 consecutive first round KOs, eclipsing the mark set by world champion Edwin Valero.

If "records" can be broken by 12-9 guys, was it really a big deal?

Yeah, it's not. Joel Julio knocked this guy out in 3 rounds and he's been stopped 5 times so Brunson was really fed cans to boost his appeal.
I think the records should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember when Valuev was coming to close to Rocky Marciano's record then he finally fought good guys.
And then guys like Victor Oganov who just aren't what they appear to be on paper.

Second time he's faced someone with a winning record and this is what happens.

I think you found your niche Ryan! Short factual articles! When you don't include your opinion, your journalistic incompetence is much harder to spot. Good work, I am proud of you!

            Not surprised at all.

His first round KO record is about as meaningful as LaMar Clark's all time KO streak.
