    Paul Williams

There was a thread created earlier about Paul Williams bitching too much about not getting the big fights.

About him being too big and starving himself from his natural weight.

They way I see these dilemnas, Paul Williams has to....

He has to tone down his trashtalk and buckle down to work. The thing with elites fighting elites is that one has to put himself in a prime position for a lucrtative deal.

In Williams' case he has to continue to fight top contenders. Stay busy. Fight frequently. Trash talk is ok for me but you have to supplement that with activity. His promoter has to line him up future fights.

Continue to win and the top fights will get to him naturally. Williams has to understand that he will be in a better position for the big fights if he continues to stay active and win.

As for the issue of PW starving himself.

Any man who can make weight should not be given prejudice no matter if he's 7 foot tall.

Natural weights is a matter of opinion and bottomline if a boxer makes weight for a given fight then people should not grumble.

    Fair is fair afterall.

Jesus Christ Joart... that's a really good post (which actually isn't all that surprising, you just have a tendency to ruin any good post with some off-topic rant about gayweather fake floyd fan cowards or some combination of those words).

I agree with you on both accounts... he is almost succumbing into Winky Wright syndrome (which makes me so sad!) where he refuses to fight, because it isn't a big fight. Take a fight with a lower level top 10 fighter (Collazo, Cintron, Quintana a third time, Berto, Clottey or even Shane Mosley) just to pass time until you can draw your boy Margarito for a rematch.

I agree with you 100% about the weight issue too. EVERYONE starves themself in this game, and it a credit to the body of Paul Williams that he is able to cut so much weight for his height and still be a very effective fighter.

Who would you take in the Williams-Margarito rematch Joart?

Before Williams steped on the scene. It was all about Margarito being too big for welterweight and its the same people that are Williams fans that used to talk **** about Margarito.

I always make good posts idiot.

And ALMOST ALWAYS... I get it CORRECT.

The words that I forcefed you to eat should be evidence to me being CORRECT ALMOST ALL THE TIME.

        At least it's still ALMOST.

As for Williams and Marg... If Marg starts out like he did on Cotto, Marg will butcher Williams in 10 rounds.

Williams is big... sure... he's a southpaw... sure...

But being big means less body mass.

Less body mass means vulnerability to body shots.

Margarito + bodyshots = you don't need to be an idiot not to know the answer.

        Williams may win a UD.

But we have to remember Margarito rearranged Williams' face in that fight and he did it by starting too late.

        Use your imagination.

Imagine Margarito starting that pace via round 2 instead of round 6.

This is the reason why I dont buy the TOO BIG bull****.

If fighters step into the ring with the same weight then that is fair.

          One cannot ask for more.

And here you go already abandoning a good, interesting, discussion-promoting topic just to be a ****head to some random member of this forum. I just don't ****ing get you sometimes.

I actually said in my first post that you do always make good posts, you just ruin them by going off topic with ****** childish insults for random fighters that have nothing to do with the topic or a random poster.

You also didn't answer my question. Do you think Margarito is able to/does get started earlier in the rematch against Williams and pull out the win? Do you think Williams will have a better answer to the Margarito attack once it gets going than he did in the first fight?

The criticism is 100% with the rules of boxing for day-before weigh-ins if people have a gripe with fighters being too big for a weight division.

A fighter is merely following the rules in a way that gives him the best advantage, which is not only allowed, but extremely intelligent.

Williams is in a position to talk **** right now cuz he's the last guy to beat the top WW. That win gives him a mandate to fight Tony but it don't make him the top guy by default. He should get the Marg rematch right away, but Tony's probably gonna take anotha fight first, likely wit Clottey. Wiliiams just needs to keep pace wit him and beat anotha contender while he waits for the Clottey-Tony winner, if that fight does happen. Either way Williams should get his shot in within his next 2 fights, just so long as he don't lose the 1st one.

What **** has Williams talked other than he will fight anyone from 147 to 168? The man deserves a rematch with Margarito and a right to be called the best welterweight in the game.

Kid is one of those rare fighters where if he were to say he doesn't care who he fights as long as it's the best you believe him.

For obvious reasons he is my second favorite welter and to be honest my second favorite fighter I think he deserves whatever accolades come his way.
