    Mayweather is Boxing true hero!

3 years ago boxing was a dying sport. That is until Mayweather jumped to welterweight and began taking over. Making boxing one the most talked about sports again at the card table. Mayweather single handedly brought back excitment in the sport. He brought fans from places no one expected like celebrity dance show, monday night wresltling, Bet 106 & park, HBO countdown ,this was mayweathers idea first, Mtv cribs. He was all over the place promoting boxing. any fool who thinks anything diffrent is just that, a fool. He saved our sport by getting the worlds attention with his flashy life style, and in your face attitude. MAYWEATHER HAS DONE THE SPORT OF BOXING A GREAT SERVICE. wHILE DOING ALL THIS PROMOTING HE STILL PERFORMED LIKE A TRUE HERO. Showing up in shape with all his weapons ready to do battle, "intelligentlly"! Its a bird , no its a plane , no its MONEY MAYWEATHER!!!!

I hate DLH but Mayweather DLH Pacman & Calzaghe/Hatton made boxing more popular. Love em or hate em you also gotta give Calzaghe/Hatton credit.

Pacquiao? He would get no credit for beating Pacquiao

By beating who? Sharmba Mitchell? The guy was already owned twice by Kostya Tszyu before Gayweather got to him. Zab Judah? That joker got owned by Kostya Tszyu too and more recently by Cotto. Carlos Baldomir? He's practically a granddad! Are you saying that it was because of Mayweather fighting these guys that boxing got fresh mojo?

When Gayweather was trying to find easy fights to get titles and making sure he maintains his immaculate record, a couple of years earlier, boxing fans saw Pacquiao demolish Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez finally getting his share of the limelight. Five years earlier than that Barrera and Morales started their epic trilogy. Castillo and Corrales' fights with each other were FAR more exciting than any of Mayweather's matches including his fights with Hatton and dela Hoya! Even Acelino Freitas was more exciting at that time! So you see, Mayweather did not resurrect boxing, he merely rode its revival, that started when the bests of the lighter divisions decided to face each other instead of choosing easy opposition like what Mayweather did.

You can try to twist history to change people's perception of Mayweather Jr., but in the end, he'd forever be remembered as an underachiever. A fighter who despite his talent chose not to test it against REAL opposition. He is unbeaten and that is his only legacy, beating a smaller Hatton and a far older Dela Hoya isn't a testament to greatness but rather a testament of his character - he doesn't love the sport, much less its hero. Mayweather isn't about boxing... he's all about money. He shouldn't even be inducted to the Boxing Hall of Fame - cowards doesn't have a place there.

i dont understand how people can think that De La Hoya/Mayweather "saved" boxing just because it got 2.5 million people to buy the fight. how the **** does a fight that basically confirms what the casuals think about the state of boxing "save" the sport? That fight is used as an example of how "boring" boxing has become by MMA fans, casual fans etc. that fight did more damage than good.

The funny thing is, most of those probably 10 million who watched the fight, got turned off to the sport because of Mayweathers big bark and pipsqeak bite.

"What a joke, I'll never pay to see that guy fight again. He said he was going to do this and that and all he did was run."

The PPV results of the Hatton fight showed.

                  Less than a million buys.

I agree to an extent and so should all of yall, but yall have hate in the blood and cant see the obvious. Mayweather became a household name by fighting Delahoya and being on dancing with the stars. It just so happend he was the welterweight champion, probably the most talented and exciting division. So people tuning into Delahoya-Mayweather, though it might have been boring followed Mayweather into his weightclass which was and is producing amazing fights, therefor making guys like Cotto,Margarito, Hatton, and the list goes on names known to the public. Numbers dont lie, and Cotto, Margarito and all the others have Mayweather to thank for their popularity in my eyes. He never fought them, but every Mayweather fight they were mentioned, so yup in a sense Mayweather did save boxing, well really Oscar by giving Floyd the oppertunity. hate it or love it.
