I don't think the Calzaghe of today could because his punches wouldn't faze Ruiz at all, maybe Calzaghe a few years ago could.

Of course he couldn't. Calzaghe is a one-division fighter. Some of his fans are even making excuses for him saying that he isn't a true light-heavy.


His limited skills are only sucessfull/effective so far. At heavyweight, he would get destroyed, even against Ruiz.

Ruiz is very underrated, if they fought now calzaghes pitter patter punches would do nothing to him, even at HW. and calz speed would seriously deline at HW aswel. Ruiz KO

Maybe a few years ago, I still think he's lose though and badly. Ruiz is too strong he proberbly wouldn't get KO'd because of his atleticism and movement and Ruiz slow handspeed but the constant clinching by a man naturally alot heavier and the punches that do land will hurt or take the wind out of him. Calzaghe would be on his bike the entire fight and still lose.

Calzaghe is a 2 division fighter. He is The Ring light-heavy champ, he beat the best light-heavy and his next fight is at light-heavy so how he can't be a 2 division guy is beyond me.
