  • Joe Calzaghe Says Roy Jones Probably "My Last Fight"

Super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe says that his upcoming light heavyweight showdown with Roy Jones Jr., scheduled for November 8 at New York's Madison Square Garden, will probably be the final fight of his career. If that's the case, it would rule out a potential bout with WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, should the Youngstown fighter beat Bernard Hopkins on October 18 in Atlantic City. [details]

I hope not. I badly want Calzaghe to run into the man in my avatar. I will bet all of points on it. Thats how confident i am.

It's funny. Of course I want to see Calzaghe - Pavlik, but on the other hand I kind of think Calzaghe should retire. To be talking about it so much you have to figure it must be time for him to do it. It's true what he says as well, virtually no elite boxers ever retire undefeated and to do so, to pick your time and just do it is a great luxury to have. I'm caught in two minds.

Ha ha. Easy to be confident about a fight that'll never happen Slick, but of everyone I give Dawson the best chance to be the man to beat Joe. Joe's not a real LHW and facing a young fast guy like Dawson while approaching old age is surely a risky idea.

Lennox Lewis, but I'm not sure who else. The thing is humans enjoy getting $20 million paydays.

Dawson should worry about Tarver first.

Disappointing to hear Calzaghe say that but I guess I would too - his fans will crow about he beat "legends" like Hopkins and Jones and who cares if those outside the UK disagree? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

He's been saying this for quite some time.

                  It's fallen on deaf ears.
