Arum: "Soto is Ready if De La Hoya Fight Falls Through"

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says its only the revenue split that “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya wants that has so far stalled agreement on a planned December 6 showdown against Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao. [details]

Please let it fall thru. I'd much rather see Pac v Soto.

I hope that the fight falls through, but it pretty much seems like a done deal, other than the purse. Soto is alright, but I'd rather see him up against a tested lightweight, not another superfeatherweight. Too bad all of them are booked to fight next month.

Yeah, same here. Who knows, Oscar has let more than one fight pass him by over money issues, hopefully Pac and Oscar both stay too stick to their guns and the fight doesnt go through. I think part of Pac doesnt actually want it to happen anyways. For his sake, I hope it doesnt, a fight with Oscar will end his career and legacy on the spot. As for Oscar, he will be remembered as a joke more than the great fighter he was.

This whole press release is basically Arum telling Oscar that he has him by the balls. Take what we've proposed (a 60/40 split) or go and fight someone your own size.

I think it would be a tune up fight for PacMan...Then after the dust settle he can take on a Juan Diaz or Nate Campbell even Joel Casamayor would be interesting....Lefty
