Ali threw Gold Medal in Ohio River!

Just a little story I had never heard before. Apparently, the proud gold medalist ( he use to wear it to bed ) was denied service in a whites-only
restaurant two weeks after coming home from the Olympics. Disallusioned, he threw his gold medal into the river. Sad. Maybe some of ya'll already knew this, maybe you didn't.

Ali was such a symbol to so many people in his time because of the turmoil of the 60's.
I can't imagine any athlete having that kind of political drama and notoreity in this day and age. I mean not even Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods in the days of mass media of many different forms even came close.

There was a documentary on tv last night about Ali's time in Miami and it talked about his younger pro years and the Liston fights.
It was good stuff. If I find a link on it I will definitely post it.

One part, I can't believe Dundee sent him out against Cooper when he looked like he had gone to god, and sends him out against Liston when he couldn't see.
But of course both times he really rose to the occasion.

Really? Link? Wow, Ali was a cool cat, but throwing away your gold medal....not cool. However, I understand why he threw it away and how it could have caused him many problems.

Boxing was first introduced at the Ancient Olympic Games, where Greek fighters wrapped leather strips around their hands and a match wouldn't end until one competitor was beaten unconscious or raised his hand in surrender.

Thats just a legend that was circulated, like George Washington chopping down his father's cherry tree.

Washington couldn't lie my ass, he probably ****ed whores.
