I just watched the fight for the first time i have been sick in the hospital so i was unable to watch it but followed it on the website. i thought it was a great fight. cotto was winning the first half and marg took over the second half. it was a really great fight. no one would have been able to take the blows these two hit eachother with.
I think that cotto was just out of steam. and i think it was do to the body shots of marg. he was landing to the body early and often. cotto was trying to hurt marg early but totally stayed away from the body. it showed marg had a plan to break cotto down. in the 2nd round which was the best round of the night, you can see that when cotto was throwing up marg was focused on cotto body.
cotto was also getting very frustrated bc no matter how hard he hit him marg just kept on coming forward. i give marg all the credit in the world no one would have took the punishment he took and stayed there. i also think cotto was just done. he had nothing left in the 11th round. he couldnt keep his hands up and just couldnt pull the trigger on the counter in that round. i dont blame him at all for taking the knee. the 2nd knee kind of looked like his legs just gave out on him. it looked as if the his leg just gave out and he went onto his knee. i DO NOT think he quit at all. i think if there was a award for the smartest move from a fighters corner it was cotto's corner stopping the fight.
cotto had nothing left and marg simply looking like he could have gone 15 rounds. cotto just didnt have a good enough gameplan to win if he had one at all. marg had the perfect one. he knew after the 1st and 2nd round that he was able to take cotto punches. so just kept going to the body and land combo's to the head. marg fought the greastest fight of his career imo.
does anyone think this is a possible FOY canidate?
I also this round 2 could be round of the year.

Round 7 about little over 2 min left in the round. lampley and steward where talking about what lederman has just said all of a sudden marg nails cotto with two fantastic punches that hurt cotto real bad and you hear lamply and steward talking and all of a sudden kellerman goes " Uh guys cotto is hurt". sorry just thought it was pretty funny.
