Floyd vs Gatti, Gatti's a C class fighter

Cotto vs Mosley, cos like joe v kessler, it was a hard fights for a few rounds untill Cotto took over, and Mosley will be in HOF before Joe C will
Nice one, I'm glad someone is offering up some suggestions. On Floyd, you'll see I excused myself in the very first post. He's retired. If not, I wouldn't have been able to post the thread.

I think Cotto Mosley was a good spectacle, but I don't recall a really excellent boxing performance from Cotto, I remember him kind of beating Shane up a bit with his power and pressure, and knowing when to back off. A very smart tactical fight, and competitive in places too, but what Joe did to Kessler was different class IMO, tactically, offensively and defensively almost perfect.

As for Winky and Trinidad, I haven't seen it, but I'll take your recommendation and watch it if I can get a copy. The only comment I'd add though is that surely you don't think that Winky Wright right now is a P4P better boxer than Calzaghe? Although of course no offense if you do.

As you very well know Vladimir, I am a Joe fan, but I'm not unreasonable and I'm not dumb, I also don't think you are.

The guy posted that Joe Calzaghe is not as good as anyone on Pavlik's resume, which means Jermain Taylor. Surely you do not believe that Taylor is better than Calzaghe? If you do, how on earth would you defend that position.

What you, and apparently everyone forgets is that Calzaghe fans like me are arguing from a position of strength, he is P4P #2 and hs is Ring champ in two weight classes. The world of boxing for the most part agrees that Calzaghe, basically, is the ****.

Then we arrive on boxingscene and its like we enter a magical parallell universe, with one accepted truth: Calzaghe is **** and his fans are delusional. If we say is good, we're hyping, if we predict him to win, we're nuthugging. The problem is that this really is a magical parallell universe, existing only in the minds of those posters who choose to live in it. Right now in 2008, in the real world, Calzaghe is one of the best boxers there is, and starts favourite against everyone from MW to LHW. It's just the way it is.

You doubt this? Go and watch what he did against Mikkel Kessler and then point me to the recent performance by your boxer that tops it for out and out boxing skill. I don't believe you will be able to.

I don't want to hear about Joe's power, I don't want to hear about Joe's slapping style, I've heard it before, all you have to do is watch any other fight from Joe's career than Bernard Hopkins and you will see both straight punching and perfectly acceptable power. This is a FACT.

I also don't want to hear about Joe's resume. I already know it isn't the best, and that no way can a guy with that resume be P4P #1. I don't give a rat's ass. If I walked into a boxing ring and did what Joe can do I would be the most talented boxer out there, with no resume at all. Save your whining for someone who cares.

        Carry on.

NB: Mayweather fans need not apply, he IS better than Joe, but luckily, right now, he's retired.

Smartest, certainly...best? Not in my opinion. I can think of several that are far more technically gifted and adept at boxing itself. Even Kessler is a better "boxer". But Calzaghe certainly has the most winning combination of smarts, chin, conditioning and speed in the sport today. There's nobody in any of the weight classes he fights in that has any notable chance of beating him, and few even from days gone by.

I was going to actually reply to this, but decided not to bother after all.

What was your take on his fight with Kessler? Prior to it I had no idea he could he do what he did.

A personally think that Winky Wright is one of the most overrated boxers around! He has a weird still and a great jab thats about it?

Very. Why else would I spend my time on the internet trying to convince American teenagers (not you?) that my favourite boxer is good. Why? I'd say I was emotionally stunted.

I called the fight outcome before it was ever even signed, and pretty much predicted it as it happened, though I felt there was also a slight possibility of a late TKO win by Calzaghe. I knew it would be a smooth and easy victory for Joe, though I didn't feel that Kessler would be in any way humiliated, and still don't feel he was. He was just outsmarted and outclassed by a far more experienced and smarter fighter. For all his technical skills, and they are formidable, Kessler is still young and relatively (in comparison to Calzaghe) inexperienced.

I really think that Calzaghe would be nearly impossible for any fighter from any era to figure out, and about the only way to beat him would be to get him shaken badly early in a round and finish him before the bell. The guy's got a chin of solid iron, so only the biggest punchers in history would stand any serious chance, and of those, only the ones with the best handspeed and longest reach would have a legitimate shot at a win, and that's only if they got onto him early....by mid-rounds, Calzaghe would probably have them figured out and would be on his way to an easy victory.
