I dont think any of those fights had the same effect as the vargas fight had on him, mostly because
1. Vargas was mexican and came up almost about the same time as he did
2. Vargas was closer, being from Oxnard, it effected him in his hometown
3. Vargas had been chasing Oscar for years trying this best to lure him into a fight, insulting his every move and his ability to even hold down his mexican fanbase
4. De La Hoya was at a crossraod in his career, unlike the Chavez, Mosley, Trinidad fights, this fight could have broken him because of the fact that this was a guy who basically insulted everything he stood for, the way he spoke, everything, and he was doing it in the LA Area, there is nothing worse than a rival who is basically within the same vicinity as you, turning your own fans against you, when you are coming off of a huge loss.
5. Mayorga taunted him, but Vargas geniuinely hated him, Mayorga does that to everyone, but moreso than Mosley, Trinidad, and Chavez, Vargas was personal at every level, from respect, to who was "more mexican" to proving to his hometown fans that he wasnt finished. With Chavez it was more a passing of the torch, but if vargas had won that fight, he would have that in his head forever. Moreso than the tito loss or any other loss, because it was a crosstown mexican rivalry where everyone was against him from the onset, that being his own people, in his own town.
